Help me! I don't do much gunsmithing but I'm pretty handy.

I put an aftermarket fing pin and shrooud assembly on my m700 vs to get rid of the j lock. The shroud was glossy so I took things apart to try and swap parts to use the original j lock shroud but deactivate the lock. After looking at the original Remington firing pin, I noticed that the indentation the j lock shaft rotates into is only on one side (the top). It dawned on me that turning the firing pin 180 degrees would not allow the jlock shaft to engage. I turned the pin and, sure enough, the j lock will not engage. The firing pin seems to protrude from the bolt face normally upon trigger release and the trigger works fine. Haven't fired it with live ammo though.

Will this work to deactivate the j lock?
