I bought a box of Nosler brass in .223 Rem to try. Two observations that may be of interest. First, the brass was cut short...0.03" shorter than maximum allowed length. Nosler said they cut them to the shortest length of any of the factory loads generally available (Federal) to avoid overpressure caused by previous residue buildup. Seems to me, that would mean that using their brass would encourage residue build up at the front of the chamber and would be a problem if you switched to some other brand. Second, the lot numbers are on the inside of the sealed box so you won't know if you are buying multiple boxes from the same lot or not until after you purchased the product. They told me that was because they didn't want to have dealers specifying just a single lot when they ordered. It may be nice brass, but I am annoyed by the shortness of the length and the inability to select brass from a common lot.

Wait until you try and get even 90% powder loads, thinking it was Varget I tried.......case runneth over long before you get a half ways decent loading. These were two bags of "seconds", so thought they were due to shortness. Also they are heavy so I have less volume. For perfection in every way, Lapua is worth every penny......r in s.
