Seem's most of the topic's are Remington verses Savage when it comes to p-dog shooting.
Why doesnt anyone think Winchester would make a great long range shooter?
One of my projects right now is a model 70 push feed in 243, hvy bl , HS stock , and a burris sig. 6-24x mill dot.
The Winchester Stealth would also make a great long range shooter.
I will post pictures when the uploads to webhost start working, seems they have a glitch.

The main problem with Winchester is distribution, I live in your state and it is difficult to find a dealer that carries them here, other than the dreg versions carried by Wal-Mart or K-Mart. Trying to find a decent M70 is like pulling teeth in Louisville. I did have one favored dealer who carried them in stock, but he retired and closed his shop. Boo hooo! I was able to buy a heavy varmint Model from him before he closed his doors, and haven't seen one since, in stock and ready for sale. You can find some of the newer WSMs, but only because they are new to the market. Finding a M70 sporter is a lost cause, unless you pay up front and let them order it for you, in their own good time! I mourn the loss of the Powder Keg Gun Shop in Floyd's Knobs, IN, he was a FULL SERVICE gun shop. Now we just have peddlers carrying what THEY want to carry in inventory. It sucks! [Mad]

gsp, There's nothing wrong with a Winnie, and you got a great combo going on there, I got a scope like that on my son's 22-250 and he likes it alot. The reason I buy Remington is because I can get the trigger down to a lower weight than Win. otherwise If I were to stick a Jewell on the rifle I'd opt for a Winchester, as long as they made it in the right caliber, I do wish Win. would make a varmint rifle with a bit lighter barrel, like the VS, staying with the HS stock. It would make for a much better handling rifle and you'd still have the accuracy. Jay

try to find a lefty. I have one in .300wm, after 3 years of looking. I've only seen 1 lefty stainless. 30-06. I do not think they make lefty varmint guns.
