Should you retire or just quit?

RustyShould you retire or just quit?
My wife turns 62 the 13th of January. She has been off work due to an injury (not work related). She wants to hang up the scrubs.
Is there any advantage to retiring over just quiting? Would she have any greater protection if she retired instead of quitting?
Thanks in advance for your input.

reloadermanIf she retires, doesn't she get some(?) benefits? If not it doesn't matter, just say good by, and move on. It won't effect her SS at all.

WinkOr go for a reduced work schedule, keeps you on the active payroll and counts toward social security quarters.
