My great uncle, I have been told, led an interesting life. My parents have a postcard whose decoration is a photograph of a statue of him somewhere in Israel. Russian-born Alexander Zeyd (the way our family spells it), I have been told, was a member of The Watchmen (Hashomer??), a vigilante group in British-mandate Palestine. I believe he was killed during the insurrection of 1936. I've used AltaVista and Clusty search engines for more information, especially photographs I can download, but have found nothing. I will appreciate assistance in identifying Alexander Zeyd more precisely, including photographs. It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. This may give you a place to start. It appears the spelling has in fact changed over the years. Ken.... "The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so. " - Ronald Reagan

A fascinating read about your great uncle, Naph. I'm just related to Knute Rockne-- nothing special, there...
