Acceptable age difference/dating…

So guys (and ladies of course)…what is an acceptable age difference between an older man and a younger woman? I know a lot of it has to do with maturity level as it relates to both parties. And this not a “trophy wife†type situation. Just consider a man has met a woman with whom he is quite taken and is trying to decide if she is too young for any relationship they may have, outside of a friendship of course.

Please base your answers on a 31 year old male. How young a woman is too young for that man? And of course, don’t forget to include the all important “Why?†in your answer please.

Thanks,

Brian

Hmmm good question, that carries two good answers, depending on your age, either 2/3 your own age is still ok.

I am 33, that means a 22 year old is young but not in any bad way.

Seconsd method and this is not to the taste of all men, in Sweden we use celsuis degrees, and judging by how hot/cold a shower you can stand to take that´s how old a girl.

When I was 15 a 15 degrees shower was a good thing to cool me of, at 20 I still liked a good cool shower anything between 18-25 was great and a times I could still do 17. Growing up I became a more of a tempered showers kind of guy, anything between 25-35 is were I am at now, and that is probably were I will stay should I not get married.

How is that for an answer?

Best regards Chris

Although I love some the above answers, psychology actually has an answer for this. We all know women mature physically faster than a man. They also mature mentally at a faster rate until the 60s. The answer is (drum roll and trumpet fanfare please) there should be a minimum of five years difference, the man being older than the woman. [Remember, this is based upon averages and there could be an ocassional case (rare) where the woman could be older.]
The considered IDEAL is seven years younger in most cases. Reasons besides mental maturity include earning capacity, physical 'needs,' education.
Maximum...uh, lets not go there.

The max is kinds what I am looking for Prof...I like the 2/3 rule as posted above as it puts things right where they need to be. And that would be a 31/20 split. I agree with the mental maturity factor. And for being only 20, she is as, if not more, mature than I am now. I could see the age gap being a problem now, whereas if I were 50 and she were 39...no issues...
Thanks for the replies guys...
Brian

I'm a trifle younger than you (22) so the only problem I have is their parents ideas of what is too old for their little girl! But, having some experience with college age girls, I only have this advice...don't do it man! They can be a lot of fun, and surprisingly mature for their age...BUT, they (to me) seem to be very petty about some very silly things. Anything from having a problem with you going out without her to spending too much time and money on the things YOU love to do (I guess that's all women, but it seems more prevalent in the younger ones). Yours may be different, but they all go back to this standard in my opinion. Personally, I prefer older girls. However, if you want to give it a shot, go ahead, no one would (or should) look down on you for it if it makes you and her happy. I just wanted to remind you about some of the less favorable things about girls that age. There are some good things, but you could get all of them in a night or so with most college girls. banana

Join a health club and target divorced women from 35 to 45 aka 'Cougars'.

They'll be invaluable in helping you develop your cocksmanship and aid in your cunning linguist skills. They're also practiced in the art of pleasing a male.

The problem I've encountered with dating younger woman is that it really annoys women in my age group.

I'm 50. I like 'em about 25, up to about 30. Any older and they have to much baggage. At 22 and 23, they are just too dumb to know what's good for them. They get some smarts about 26 or 27. I have no interest in any broad beyond 30 or so.

My ideal bird is 27, tall, thin, long brunette hair, big brown eyes, a real looker and with a body right off the front cover of Thong Bikini Illustrated magazine. I will never get this kind of woman, but think of the money I'm saving...

I am not sure what the acceptable age difference is but I can offer this experience. At age 34 I was dating a young lady who looked younger than her tender age of 21. We were at Lowes picking up a Christmas tree when a 16 year old kid asked "Sir, what is your daughter's name?" That is when I realized maybe she was a little young. Roll Eyes

There are exceptions but...

Many women go through their mid life crises somewhere between the ages of 35 and 45. Those are the ages in which they wonder if they should have done things differently, develop different goals, etc. Those are also the ages in which they appreciate security, stability and nice guys. In short, that is the time they really decide what they want; i.e., they are in their prime.

If you get much over 45, many women don't seem inclined to develop a loving bond with a new man. From the late teens to early 30s, many either go for jerks or don't know what they want.

Another thing to consider; if you're 20 years older than the girl, that means you'll be 80, unless you die first, when she's 60. Is she still going to want you when you're in a nursing home?

I new a guy once who was in his 70s. His ex-wife was in her early to mid 90s and in a nursing home and his wife was in her mid 40s. I think he was headed for heartache.

Up to 10 years younger but she has to be a minimum of 18. This holds until you turn 40. When you get to 40, the number slides up to 15 years younger, if you can stand the garbage a young woman can dish out.

When you're in your late 20's to mid-30's there ain't nothin' wrong with cougar hunting. I caught several flatbellied tanned cougars and those are memories I'll cherish forever.

My current GF is 45, flat tummied and looks scorching hot in her thong. She may be a keeper.

That makes a lot of sense, one question though, what about your odd birthdays e.g. you're 25. Do you round up (13+7=20) or down (12+7=19?)

*I know an 24 year old who is married to a 46 year old man. They have had two kids together, get along great, and are about the happiest married couple I've ever seen. The kicker is, they've been married for six years - she was 18, he was 40.*

With that said, I think a girl dating a man her father's age is friggin weird. Girls that are college age are more girl than woman and are usually annoying as hell to be around. I can see what a 40 year man wants in an 18 year old, but I can't see a relationship.

Now then, you're 31 I assume? I wouldn't say 22 is too young because you're not that old. Its the equivalent of a college sophomore dating a grad student - happens all the time.

Interesting topic!

IMO the 2/3 rule sounds about right, but the degrees Celsius of the shower is interesting.

I know that swimming in 30 degree (Celsius) water feels like heaven to me. By the same token, I've seen quite a few 30 year old women that I would just love to "swim" in. Big Grin

I have a theory about why older men seen to love younger women. I think it has to do with the instinct to reproduce that all animals have. Older women reach menopause and generally can't have any more children, while men remain capable of making babies from puberty until death.

But if you get one too young, you quickly become aware of another basic instinct. Namely, the will to survive when the father starts chasing you with his twelve gauge!

Big Grin

Actually I am the male around 25 and wonding: in thehalf plus even rule. Do I round up 26/2=13+7=20 or down 12+7=19. I got to thinking (a dangerous thing) This rule runs into some problems once the guy goes over the hill. By then I guess one can revert back to the rule that if she's young enough to be your daughter stay away.
