Rich,
You have been here a long time. You have posted a lot, you have PM'd a lot. I do not know you at all other than what you post. Can I offer something here?

Back off a bit and return to positive posts. I have no idea what you really know or do not know about guns, loading, writing, cars, Africa or whatever as the tone of many posts is a bit over the top. Your sharp tongue (keyboard) gets you in controversies no one on AR needs or wants.

Same with PM's that contain threats. Come on, man... That is for kids, not adults. Not even some of the most notorious on AR ever carried out a threat - so not need to take things that personal or to that level. This is just a hunting forum.

Cool your jets and post relevant comments, no threatening PM's and no insults.... and you will be surprised how positive the response will be to you...

PS- I guess I should offer the comment to Die Ou Jagter... Let's try to get along....

I do agree with what you have said.

The response here to me will not change, there are eight or ten who construct their daily existence around finding something negative to post.

The fact that I made three trips to Africa, and posted pictures of a friend from church and I remodeling my gun room to hang Cape Buffalo, Kudu, Gemsbok, Waterbuck, Blesbok, and the rare Caracal, long with the Jackal I shot and my Zebra rug are immaterial to my detractors. Can cause envy for some.

The fact that I served 25 months and 10 days in RVN, initially in a MAC-V Teams because they would not assign me to the Ranger Company attached to the 23rd when I got there. That due to the fact that my older brother Ed was a triage-medic assigned to 27th Surg the first five months I was there. I drew the MAC-V Advisory Team north of there until he left. There may be one out of the whole pack who even served in the military, but I am skeptical of that.

The fact that I wrote for nearly twelve years for PS, frequent articles, and chapters of the PS Annuals, as well as other publications means nothing to this group whose writing highlight is posting here, or perhaps, in extreme cases a letter to the editor of the local newspaper that got printed. I got paid for mine.

Yes, I contribute here in a positive manner when appropriate. But, I have gone to PM's as a simpler way to accomplish what I want to do.

Sooooo, pretend you could convince me to change. The clowns will not let go of it. It is their life here.

Thanks for the compliment, I do appreciate what you posted here. And, I am just slightly envious of the hunting record you have. A great life, and a great legacy to pass on.

Decent people do not need this sort of advice.

They behave admirably in person and on the Internet.

Die Ou Jagter will no longer post on AR.

WE are very tolerant here on AR - as all of you who have been here for a while know.

But a line must be drawn somewhere, and those who cross it, can go and play somewhere else.

It could change if you acted a little more civil towards others. You've come out from under your rock and attacked me on at least two different occasions I remember without merit. You didn't even have your facts straight.

Rich, when you act like an ass you will be treated accordingly. That's why on the last thread when you tried to get everyone to gang up on Dave they choose you instead.

These people don't hate you because of your history, accomplishments or simple jealousy. They hate you because you make a complete ass of yourself on a regular basis and they generally consider you a low life. Think about it and try to make a positive change.

Terry

Still trying to figure out how ISS could read anything Dogcat said as a compliment.

What I can't figure out is why ISS thinks anyone envies him...in fact, I can't think of any other poster, many of whom do lead lives to be envied, that ever accused someone of being jealous or envious of themselves. Other people, for sure, but not themselves.

I served in the army too. In fact, I commanded a company before the advanced course, which not too many GOs have on their resume during and around my year group. My senior rater said I was the best officer he had seen in nearly 30 years of service. BFD...that was back in the 80s - it certainly means nothing today.

By ISS's logic, anyone who has not gone to Africa can't possibly know as much as someone who has. He constantly puts down those who have never been, as if Africa somehow provides a Christ-like divinity that renders mere mortals impotent. Well, I have been to Africa multiple times more than ISS, shot over a dozen dangerous game animals, and am here to tell you there are a ton of hunters better than me - like the guy I met when I was hiking in the Superstition Wilderness this weekend.

ISS has an obvious self esteem problem.

forrestb,

Even if it's not me, that is funny.

I don't know what forum you frequent, but it worries me that you download this type of picture...

I prefer Gibson and Taylor guitars, by the way.

Not sure where it came from, but it is strange.

Could have directed it at me, since my 3 hobbies are Guns, Guitars, and Gardening.

Of course, I'm a lot better looking!
