The wife and I got new hones a few weeks ago.

We live in the Toolies, and our phone reception has been terrible..

We talked to several diferent Phone Center people.

Everyone stated that the Nokia Phones got the best reception.

Our phone service has got much better with the Nokias.

Do you want to use that "I" phone stuff? I looked at one and while I use the internet here I had a hard time reading the small print.

I don't 'text' nor do I want to.

My cell phone is old too. I can't decide?

I love my iphone, my wife is addicted to hers. We didn't text, now we do, we used to talk in restaurants, now we surf while waiting for the food. Any question about anything ends with "lemme Google that". Reception is usually equal or better to the various phones my co-workers use.

If you have any problems and call AT&T you get routed to Apple and the staff there doesn't give a crap if you're happy or not. You have to have a computer you can "sync" and "update" the iphone with if you want it to work properly. The iphone is fragile (buy some variation of the Otter Box) and you can't replace the battery (I believe it's $70 to get Apple to replace it).

But for all that I find it handy to run around with the whole Internet, pictures from my last safari, an exterior ballistics calculator, my calender, "notes" from my computer, 2Gb of music and a half dozen video games in my pocket. YMMV if you actually have a life Big Grin

A co-worker had an iphone, went to a blackberry and now he's back to the latest iphone, but he's also a bit of a techie.

I don't know about the other stuff AT&T is offering but there's the good and bad about the iphone from my experience.

Have been using the Droid Incredible for about two months and like it a lot. It overcomes some of the problems that have been reported with the iPhone. It does use up the battery though - must recharge it about every other day.

I have had a Nokia 2610 for three years almost. My family has everything from iPhones to Blackberries and all manner of "cool" phones in between. When they are whining that they have "no bars" or they are dropping calls, I can look and got plenty of rx-tx signal. AT&T tech support has told me tha the Nokia 2610 is "legendary" when it comes to rx-tx "power".

No bells or whistles and frankly that suits me fine. I despise cell phones anyway. Were it not for my wife's insistence, I would not even have one.

iphone for me and the wife...low tech for the mother in law, some type of slide thing for the daughter to text on....be sure and get the unlimited plan on texting...once you start it great!

Get an Otter box....even make a water proof one I'm told.

Great toy for sitting in the deer stand, keeping up w/the world if you want or playing a game...only bought one app. in almost 9 months of owning the iphone.

And best of all....I can check the classified on AR at work!!!!

AT&T sucks up here in AK but that's who my company goes through.

I have a samsung rugby II. I really like it. They offered me a blackberry but I dont want to do work at home so I turned it down.

The rugby actually is a strong phone, the otherday I dropped it out of a moving vehicle (roughly 20MPH) and it came through with flying colors. I have the GPS and mobile media, etc turned on but I dont use it. I'm hard on phones and this one seems to be tough.

A lesson in irony

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

Everytime you go up a level in phones, the monthly charges usually go up too, it just depends on whether you need internet access on your phone or not. I don't but others obviously do, but then again, I don't text and I don't use my phone for a camera either. If you want a cell phone to talk on, keep it simple and, especially if you live out in the boonies, get one from a cell provider that works best in your area (check with your neighbors). I had ATT and couldn't get out at all where I'm located without using an antenna. Now I've switched to Verizon and it is better, not great, but measurably better. Your location might be just the reverse, it just depends on tower locations.

I just upgraded (again) to 4G, the 32 meg version.
It cost me $299 on a new two-year deal.

It works well, but I am not sure why. I called home to Idaho four times from RSA in April with the 3GS and my wife said I sounded like I was in the next room.
