I have two Queen knives, a #74 Rabbit Skinner, and a #4180 Premium Hunter. Both appear to be well made, well finished, and are D2 steel. Both were excellently sharp right out of the box. The small #74 I bought to dress small game with has the bone stag handles, the bigger #4180 has grooved laminated wood. Neither knife is what you would call flashy or overwrought, just plain classical good finished cutlery. I am going to buy a couple of the bone stag handled folders soon, as they appear to be very well made as compared to Case, Buck, Schrade, Kershaw, etc. Queen seems to have a very small distribution network, so very few people seem to be familiar with their gear. They don't make any post modernistic wild flashy looking stuff, just the classic patterns that have been popular and collectable for so long. With the switch to D2 steel a couple of years ago, I would like to think that has elevated their status a little above other commonly available knives. I haven't seen any yet that appeared to be poorly made or finished, but I also don't really know many people who actually own Queens. Maybe more owners of Queen's will see this thread and contribute soon, just hadn't been noticed much yet. | ||
