I shoot winchester cases a cci 250 primer and use 57.0 grains of IMR 4350 powder with a 180 grain sierra boattail or a 180 rem core-lokt bullet.This load cronos at 2800 fps +or- 15fps
it shoots accurate also.

My Rem 700 06 likes Ramshot Hunter and 180 accubonds. 59.5gr of Hunter, avg. vel. 2774fps, 5 shot group .822. I had great groups with IMR 4831 as well but my vel. were very low.

I couldn't quite comfortably reach 98's load. I settled for 57.5 gr's of H4350 with most 180's. The Hornady SP needs .5 gr's less (57.0) and runs at the same speed as the higher 180's. I get right at 2,750 fps in a 21" bbl (wlr primer / ww cases).

For the '06, H-4350 and any reasonably good 165 & 180 bullet (Nosler Partitions especially) is always a good choice, the sweet spot normally occurs between 57-58 grains in my expereince. I've yet to see a good rifle with well assembled componets not shoot very well in this cartridge.



If you're getting indications of a warmer than normal load with H-4350 and 180 grainers, step up a notch to H-4831, accuracy is stellar and the velocity will not suffer, either.

I found 56 gr. H-414 and 150 gr. Rem Core-Lokt in Lake City cases with CCI250 to be best accuracy. Used SpeerMag tips for 2 California deer & Core-Lokt for 2 pigs. Worked great.
For cast bullet load accuracy, have yet to beat the 150 gr Lyman Loverin design with 22 gr RX-7 or the Lyman 311290 with 25 gr. RX-7 for long range.

Winchester or Remington case loaded with 59 grains of H4831SC ignited with a Winchester WLR primer behind either a Hornady Inerlok or Remington Core-lokt 180 grains bullet. They perform with extreme accuracy in my Ruger M77 and my son's M700 Remington.

WW case, Fed 210 primer, 60 gr. of RL 22 180 partition. MV from 24" model 70 2850 fps.

any brass 30-06 case 50grs. imr4064 150 sierra spitzer. has performed great in every 06 so far.

Any suggestions for M1 Grand? I have 1600 or so prepared and primed cases (commercial, no military) all the same length waiting for bullet and powder. These will be used for practice at 100 & 200 yards so expensive bullets are not necessary (?). Bullets/powder & amount/OAL suggestions please.

Go to http://www.gibrass.com and order pulled 147 fmjs from Jeff Bartlett. Then charge the cases with 46.5 grains of H4895 (you can get that from him, too, but there is a hazmat fee...). Seat the bullets to the cannelure, and touch the round off with a standard large rifle primer.

If you wish, you can go up just about one more grain, depending on pressure signs and how the M1 cycles, but this load should be really close... And if you decide to use IMR 4895, be aware it is somewhere around a grain faster than the Hodgdon, in my experience.

Win Case, Win LG primer, 57.0 Grains of H414 and Hornady 165 SST's. This load shoots consistent at 1 MOA.

With the above data and 54.0 grains of H414 instead with the rest of the data being the same, I shot a 4 shot touching group at 100 yards and I dropped the last one about a inch.

with 150 hornadys and remington bullets i use 59.0 of IMR4350 With the 180 grain bullets its 57.0 of IMR4350

Glad to help. Jeff is a stand-up guy, and his products, especially the powders, are first rate.

I have loaded for a few 30,06s over the years. And in most cases the good old IMR 4350 works great with all bullet weights. My currant rifle chamberd for the 30,06 is a model 70 classic. I only had one load for it that was really good with the IMR 4350 and a 180 grain sierra, but recently I have found a couple of powders that the rifle likes. with 150 and 165s it likes IMR-4064. Shoots them right around MOA.
And with 165 and 180s RL-22 has been outstanding. I have gotten a couple great groups with the outstanding barnes 168 grain tripple shock and with the RL-22 I have busted 3000 FPS. The velocity with the IMR-4064 was a little over 2800, and the same bullet and powder combo gives me a little better velocity and groups about the same with my .308.
The 06 is the best cartridge around for a north american hunter unless he is in grizly country, just one shooters opinion...tj3006

Nosler offers up a couple of tremendous loads for the 30-06 - both Re22. 1) 165 gr. Nosler bullet, 24" barrel, 63 grs., 3002 fps, and 2) 180 gr. Nosler bullet, 24" barrel, 61 grs, 2872 fps. Impressive performance, and QL estimates ~60,000 PSI for each. Worth tryng.

Try IMR4320 with a 150 or 165gr bullet. The powder is often overlooked but I have yet to find a 30-06 that did not shoot the combination well and give good velocity.

59.0 Gr. of IMR4831 (warm load) behind a Sierra 165 Gr. HPBT or 62.0 Gr. of RE19 behind a Hornady 150 Gr. SP. I have gotten single digit standard deviation with RE19 on almost every occasion I have tried it.

This load shoots .400" groups from my Remington 700 bdl stainless.

Depends upon what the particular rifle likes, but I have had best luck with a 165 gr and 55.0 gr of IMR 4350...kills whatever you shoot with it, if you do your part!!

WW brass, Fed 210, Hornady 180 Gr. Sp interlockand IMR 4350 56.0 GR a MOD (Minute of deer) load.

Fed brass, Fed 210, 57.5 grs H4350, H-165 SP gets 1/2" groups on a good day for me. I have a Ruger MK II SS all weather if it matters.

200 gr Accubond (ballistic coefficient of .588), 59.5 gr RL22 (over book max), Norma brass, Fed 215M primer, seated .015" off lands. This bullet is not a flat shooter but fits the reticle in the Burris ballistic plex or the Swarovski/Kahles TDS reticle to within 1/2" out to 400 yards. It carries a lot of energy downrange and is the best compromise between penetration and expansion. The only load my 22" lightweight Sauer will shoot to a consistent < 1" @ 100 yds.

Doubless, Tried your load (147gr, pulled 147g fmjbt, and 46.5 of H4895. Works very well thanks. In my Garand and O3A3 the groups were around 2" with open sites and 65 year old eyes. Thanks again. Mike

A plethera of information ! Can any of thse loads be used in a Semi Bar or new Remington 750 ? I like the 150"s for deer.

Well OK, I just found a pile of military brass, some dating back to 1942. Two questions: 1) is it ok to use this old brass after swaging the primer pocket and, 2) can I use the same load (147 fmj, 46.5 H4895) as in the commercial brass?

62.5 grains of H 4831 SC and a 200 grain Speer, or Nosler... CCI large rifle primer....
