Mine is the same as boilerroom's except my bullet is the 168 gr. Nos./Win. CT version of NBT. Gives 2780 fps chrono. out of my Rem. M700 DU rifle. Shot a nice 180 lb. 8 point this yr. with it, and he only made it 40 yds. with a lung hit.
My favourite 165-grain hunting load in .30-06 is 62 grains of Reloder 22 ignited by a WLR primer. I've also had virtually identical results with 61.5 grains of H4831SC. My hunting rifle is a Remington 700 Stainless Synthetic Mountain rifle, and that Reloder 22 load averages about 2780 feet per second and puts the first three shots out of a cold barrel into an inch at the center of the bullseye at 200 metres every time.
Another excellent and uniform combination is 50 grains Varget with the same bullet. This load is an excellent target load, and works safely and wonderfully in my Garand.
John Barsness writes that somewhere between 57 and 58.5 grains of IMR 4350 creates the ultimate .30-06 load with a 165-grain premium bullet, and I've found that combination to be outstanding, too.
In fact, I'd be willing to bet that any reasonable rifle powder between, say, IMR 3031 and Reloder 22, would give good results with a 165-grain bullet in .30-06. It's just one of those magical cartridge/bullet combinations.

I read John B's article and he actually says any of the 4350s work well -- he says H4350 is a little less accurate but that it's also less temperature-sensitive and meters better.
I tried a bunch of powders in the range you mention with my old Model 70 and Hornady 165s -- but couldn't find any that would hold a candle to H4350 or IMR 4350. I couldn't see any accuracy difference between the brands, even I fired a bunch of groups.

My Remington Mountain Rifle likes 59 grains of H414 and the 165 Nosler Ballistic tip. It shoots much better than it's supposed to! I can get half inch groups at 100 yards if I do my part!

If you are using a Bolt or Single Shot 30-06 Reloader 19 is excellent Powder followed by IMR 4350, when teamed up with Fed Match 210GM Primers and Fed Cases.
But if you have a Browning Auto or Rem 7400/742 I suggest VARGET w/CCI BR2 Primers or IMR 4064/4895 w/FED 210GM primers due to the chamber pressure curve, a faster powder is needed.
I am very fond of Sierra 165 BT and Nosler BT. The Hornady Accubond should be superb also.

This load is within the max load in the new Hodgdon's manual but I suggest that you work up to it. In my Rem. M-700 BDL this is what I call a safe max load. The bullet is the Sierra 165 grain SBT. Powder is 59.5 grains of H-4350. Primer was the CCI BR#2 in Win. cases MV=2830 fps, Standard Deviatioin is 5.1 fps. Extreme Spread was 11.0 fps. After culling groups I mad mistakes in, the average sized group of five five shot groups is .247" I had a Leupold 6.5x-20x on the rifle while shooting groups. Remember, work up to this load. Good luck.
I tried 57.0 grs. IMR 4350 with 165 gr. Barnes X flat based bullets, R-P nickel case, and a CCI BR-2 primer. Seated .050" off the lands in a Winchester M70 push feed. Average for three 3 shot groups was 1.15". Didn't have time to chrony, but the accuracy is there.
22 inch barrel Rem. 700 Mt. Rifle. 59 grains WW 760, 165 grain Hornady spire point, WW case, WLRP's. 5 shotS averaged 2,825 fps. 1st three into 3/8" next 2 opened to 1 1/2" THIS LOAD WAS CAREFULLY WORKED UP FROM WAY BELOW IN .5 GRAIN INCREMENTS Rich Elliott
