These are my two favorite pet loads I developed in a Weatherby Mark V Custom Outfitter in 7 Remington Mag. The gun has a 24" fluted bbl and is equipped with Talley rings and bases as well as a Zeiss 3-9x36.

160 Aframe
Federal Nickel Brass
Fed 215
66.0 RL22
Velocity 3077 fps (sea level 80 F)

175 Hornandy Interlock
Federal Nickel Brass
Fed 215
62.5 RL22
Velocity 2831 fps (sea level 80 F)

Both loads shoot a half moa or better, groups below 1" at 200 yards are not uncommon.

This gun does not seem to like the light stuff too much, I have tried a few different 140 and 150 grain bullets with little sucess.

Bill,

What is this twist of your barrel? I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm rem and I have not been able to get it to shoot the way I think it should. It seems to like heavy bullets and high speed. I have been able to get about 1" groups at 100yd from 175gr grand slams pushing the 3000fps mark. It doesn't shoot bad, but it just seems like it should be better, or am i just whining? Thanks.

According to the catalog, 1 in 9 1/2", this gun does like the heavy stuff.

I have also found Weatherby's to like flatbase bullets over boattails and favor heavier stuff over the lighter, at least this has been the case with my guns.
