I used RL 22 behind the 130 grain nosler parttions for a few years with very good success. Unfortunately my second lot of RL 22 was quite a bit faster and more temperature sensative than the first lot. I've just finished two pounds of RL 25 behind the 150 grain nosler partitions with very good success. I've been using 73 grains of the RL 25. I worked up to 75 grains with good results and no obvious pressure issues at about 50 degres F. However it did show about an 80 fps variation from 30 deg. F to 70 deg. F, and as my hunting can vary from a 70 deg. New Mexico Elk hunt to a -15 degree Quebec Caribou hunt, I decided to back it down a bit. If I had any pressure data at all for the RL 25 in this cartridge I might be tempted to push it a bit more.

I really wish some of the powder and bullet companies would lay off the short maggies for a bit and catch up on the data developement using the newer powders in the .270 WBY. RL 25 and Retumbo seem like they might be really good choices. But, generally speaking with the data that is available, 7828 is probably the most useful powder.

I put a 270 Wby together last winter on a Mauser 98 action.Wby cases,CCI250 primers 73 grs 7828 and 130 gr Barnes TSX's. This is max in this rifle and it shoots under an inch at 200 yds.

I've just returned from a trip downriver. I picked up a fresh pound of 7828, but the closest I could get to a pound of Retumbo was one of those "experimental" packs with four 4 ounce little containers of 4350, 4831, H1000 and Retumbo. Any hints on retumbo in the .270 WBY would be appreciated. BD

Just recently tried 60.2 gr IMR 4350 under 154 gr. Hornady interbonds. Federal Gold medal 215 primers. Velocity is listed at 2900 or 3000 I beleive. Did really good on my elk this weekend.

I have Md 70 Win chambered for the 270 Weath. I have found that H 450 to be the best allround powder if you can still find some. With max loads I have gotten well over 3300ft/sec with the 130gr Hornady, and 3210ft/sec with the 150 Hornady.

"300 Win mag loaded with a 250 gr Barnes made a good deer load". Elmer Keith
