Customer requested a custom Mosin-Nagant "plinker" in .44 Remington Magnum. Barrel is a custom contour McGowen, Devcon epoxy bedded, Williams fiber optic sights, Timney.

I would've done a bent bolt were it mine, but he wanted to retain the straight handle.

Single-feed. Mag feed will require extensive modifications (if I can do it at all) due to the short case; but extracts and ejects reliably.

I just might have to build one for myself.

I built one awhile back in 500 Smith & Wesson.

It was hassle making a magazine for it, but I got it to work.

I saw a guy make a 450 Marlin out of a Mosin. I corresponded with him and he sent me more pictures of what he did to the magazine to get it to feed. It held three rounds.
I modified my magazine just like what he showed me for cut down 300 Win Mag brass. My plan was to make a 458 American 2". I had a fellow bend the bolt for me and found a decent priced .458 barrel blank but have stopped there. Just need to find someone willing to remove the old barrel and then chamber and thread the new barrel.

I charge $275 to rebarrel these (which is reasonable esp. considering the extractor cut), plus the reamer rental (I don't have that one) if you want to send it in (and you're not in too much of a hurry, backlog...) . Interesting cartridge.

Boyd's stock? Richard's Microfit?

Thanks for the information. I just might have to take you up on this in a few months after things have calmed down.
I bought a Boyd's Walnut stock that actually has some nice figure to it.

Boyd's rules the roost, I buy laminate blanks from them (but hardwoods from a co. in Cali.
They have a new line of "At One" stocks that have adjustable cheeks and buttplates for under $200- and you can change out the grips and for ends as they're polymer. Kind of like you'd have on a handgun. A bit cheesy for a high end custom rifle, but I'm going to order one to see if they're on to something.
