Dunno anything about this, but it's kinda fun to watch. https://www.military.com/video...vs-tree/763928475001 There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

That is bullshit Bill. The tree was rotten and would have fallen if you pushed it I found a sandstone, roughly 2 feet by may be a bit more. I had a Ruger #1, which we had converted from 458 Winchester to 460 Weatherby. I had factory ammo with Hornsby solids. I thought I would blow that to smithereens. Stood a few yards away and shot it. Nothing happened. The bullet hardly penetrated a couple of inches!! And that was not an intelligent thing to do. Found what looked like an airborne bomb. It was in an area the air force used to practice on. It was about 2-3 feet long. All I had was a center fire 22. Shit it a few times. Nothing happened. I lived about 40-50 kilometers from there. And the largest caliber I had was a 375 H&H. Off back to the house, driving at break neck speeds as we had no radar or speed limits Got my 375H&H and 300 grain solid factory ammo. I fired a shot at the bomb. Bullet went in, and trail of smoke started coming out! A great disappointment!

Saeed, I agree that was a dead, rotten tree, but watching that boomer in recoil reminds me of a guy I know from the UAE who likes to let unsuspecting visitors shoot his T-REX ... There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I live in a heavy forested area. During my youth I shot bullets into a lot of trees. I would like to see the stump and see where the wreaking cuts where make. As far as the 577 T-REX I learned a valuable lesson form Saeed. Not to shoot my friends

I was walking down a beach in Alaska many years ago and found an entirely rust covered gas cylinder that I assume was swept off a fishing boat. I assumed it was likely either oxygen or acetylene but there were zero readable markings. I had a 44 mag on me and a 30-06 with a zillion tracers a 10 mile walk away. I thought long and hard about both options, but in a rare moment of maturity decided to leave it alone. On my next trip through that area it was gone. I still have regrets. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. Doubles will rule the world!"

There are youtube videos of people shooting full gas cylinders. You need to be further away then you think.

Up to when I was about 35 years old, we owned a piece of land where the big 5 roamed. On it we had a camp which had an electrified fence around it, mostly to keep the monkeys away from the thatch roofs. One day an elephant pushed over a beautiful and healthy knob-thorn tree which grew just a few yards outside the fence. There was a similar tree just inside the fence, and now the branches of the two trees were in contact, creating a monkey highway over the fence. The next day we shot the main branch of that tree (about 10" in diameter) off with a .270. It only took 10 rounds, shooting from both sides and placing the shots about an inch and a half apart.
