I saw a article about making 375 jdj cases from 3006.I cant find 444 marlin cases and I actually tried this but only fired the primer. The 444 is a rimmed 3006 case blown out esentally .I wanted to try reduced loads first then go up.My gun is a contender with a tc rifle 23" \barrel other wise i am going to sell it.I only have 30 pcs of brass!!!Has anyone done this?

Yes, you can very easily AND you can use 7-8-9mmx57 and not have to trim off so much. I have a bag full of already formed 444 to 375 JDJ including 25 x57, reformed 35 Whelen and reformed 270 Wi cases all waiting for me to get some other projects out to the way so I can do MY 375 JDJ.

I've tested/used x 57 cases and several different reformed '06 cases in my switch barrel Marlin Levergun 444 barrel with out any problems and used x57 and 308 cases to make 307 and 356 Win cases also and they ALL work interchangeably in my Marlin switch barrel lever gun...feeding, rejecting, it gobbled up and spit out all the odd ones without a hitch.

You just have to test one for functionality to see if the ejector will pick the rimless case up and also check the H2O capacity of the alternative cases and load accordingly.

Some of the alternative cases had slightly more capacity and some had slightly less but all were safe for loading to Marlin 444 pressure ratings.

It is a bit of work...so if you can get 444 cases then forget the reforming...the 444 has a very small rim anyway which makes the interchanging feasible.

Yep I trimmed 3006 then necked it up and primer fired. This brass shortage makes things crazy.I have four guns that there is no ammo or brass. My 405 win is other big one I can make from 30-40 brass if i can find it .If I can pull this ff with 3006 brass and get bullet mold this will be a cheap gun to shoot otherwise its just metal anbd wood.I asked jd Jones he said dont do it but i read a couple of articles on it.So they work for 444 also ?I just found cheap 444 for $450 .I likle the 375 jdj but no ammo or cases make it no fun!
