I was wondering how the board would feel if Barnes took their .375 cal. 235gr TSX and put a boattail on it? I asked Barnes this question regarding the 235gr & 270gr TSX, but their reply was that the added length could pose a problem with stabilization. Ok ... possibly with the 270gr., but the 235gr. would be a natural. As someone pointed out on this forum, the .375 235gr TSX has the B.C. of a "soup can" ... something with a better B.C. than 0.270 might be nice for those longer shots.

i think its about a perfect bullet, as is .. the soupcan analogy only applies if one doesnt add .02 to SD, as the SD concept's core conceit is that the bullet in question is a standard jacketed lead core. barnes bullets RARELY fly apart, though they do, from time to time, loose petals.. the 235 is a great hunting bullet.. go with something else for DGR ... but, IMNSHO, the issue there isn't bullet weight being so low, its caliber... sure, a 375 can kill DG, but a .458 does it so much better INHO, a copper/brass bullet, if the same SHAPE can be the same length, and the weight is not AS important... No, Gerard, i am not coming of to MO (yet) just understanding the FT/LBS don't kill.. great big holes kill animals opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Unless your planing on shooting your rifle on game pass 300 yards there is really no gain from a boattail.

I think a tipped TSX version in the 235 thru 270 grain versions would rock. I believe you would gain more BC from that than any attempt to add a boattail. Cheers, Dan

jeffeosso ... I wasn't thinking of using it on DG ... I really don't have that much of a death wish ![]() This is what makes this forum so GREAT! Do I NEED to use this large bore on itty bitty bamby and his cousins? Hell, no! Do I want to? You bet! ![]() Dan H ... I think you hit on the better idea! Putting a polymer tip on this bullet, I think, would really help out to 300 yards and keep the velocity up enough for better petal expansion.
