45/70 Govt.
Bite Me! I'm Getting A 50 BMG.
I have the 45/70 Govt. (surprise!), which will manage anything on the greater US continent.

Some sort of whacked out "elephant gun" would be cool -- "Overkill" or some "T Rex."

Howizter would be good, etc. etc.

I'm thinking a 50 BMG. What I really do is some sort of paper, down-range, maybe a mile. 50 BMG is "big bore" -- seriously big. *LMAO*

Single shot, Bolt, muzzle brake whatever. And I could reload for this caliber --

Whoo-hoo! I think there is a guy out of Vernonia who'll let ya test drive a couple of his for a fee. (5 bucks a round I think) You get to shoot up cars and other interesting things. (no hogs like down in texas Frowner)
I'm not real sure, but I've heard that packing a 20 some-odd pound rifle around the country around your place is not a very envied endeavor. Wink I'm guessing you're out of Seaside? Beaver maybe?

Just a thought, but you can build a 500 A-sq for much less than the least expensive 50 bmgs. With a long throat and 1-10" twist it will stabalize all the 50 bmg bullets. You'll also get 2/3-3/4 the velocity of the 50 bmg, but will only burn 1/2 the powder, and in a rifel that weighs 1/3 as much. You also will merely have a hunting rifle vs a dagnerous 50bmg.

Just a thought.

Politicians pissers

I don't have anything against the 50bmg's, I think they are great. That said, there is something to be said for having a "stealth" 50 as a sporting rifle.

Ask some of the California politicians. Frowner

Plus, at least around me, some ranges have restrictions on the 50BMG, never heard of any for 500 A-Square.

Look at the Serbu BFG50 carbine (about 17 lbs) or the Ultralight 50 (about 14 lbs). Check out the 50 DTC if you can't have a 50 BMG. My 50 BMG is about 22lbs and is OK as long as I don't have to carry it too far to hunt. Of course it just puts a .50" hole through a deer. A 375HH has much more "effect".

Why stop there? When you can have this!

Scroll down until you see a big pointy bullet.

Good advice. Especially about politicians. Wink
However, he should go ahead and get used to a 50 BMG, braked and heavy enough for little girls to handle, as with the new world record 1000 Yard shooter. Then move on to a 12 pound 500A2 with 10" twist and any throat required. .5000" run of parallel-sided freebore of 0.5110" diameter and 1.5 degree leade should be enough for anything up to a 750 grain A-Max, including all the milsurps. thumb

We are talking practical here. Otherwise there are bigger things to stroke your ego with. animal
