Jeffeosso. How many of these have been produced and fired? Anyone with range experience at this time? Thinking about this for my Marlin 95. Thanks. Packrattusnongratus

packrat, this WILL NOT WORK through the Marlin action, as it is too short. The 45-70 Nitro, is intended for break open or falling blocks actions. Ie: the Spartan DR, Handi-rifle SS, Ruger #1, etc...

Looks like the wait continues. I don't want a single shot. Have a rolling block a few feet away as I write this. I forgot about the Marlin being so short in capacity. How about the 86 Winchester made after 1903? Packrattusnongratus

The '86 might just work, as they were also chambered in 45-90. But "I" would be hesitant to do this convertion to a real '86, unless it has/was in poor finish condition. A jap made repop, then go for it, but that is just me.

The old 86 is rebarreled, reblued, and has horrible repairs on the stock. Thought this might be a possiblity to get a larger and more effective caliber. It is now chambered in .33 Winchester. Lots of playing with the 45-70 brass to get there! And about three annealings. Otherwise the necks crack on you.
