Does anyone have any loads to share using either Varget or Hodgen Powders, especially interested in 570 gr woodleigh data.

I'd also be interested if H4350 is any good in the 500 a2 or is it to slow with 570gr woodleigh softs. I am thinking Varget might work well.

I have used RL15 up to 110gr with 550gr bullets. I have not found any need for another powder as my 510 Wells(very close to 500A2) is not scoped. It seems a better shooter than me. I have used 95-110gr with 450's 535's and 550's. I have no 570's and have 24 600 Barnes originals I'm saving once I'm shooting better at 50+ yards

I have used H4350, but it requires about 15-20 grains more powder (depending on the lots), and more powder compression than I like, to achieve the same velocities as RL-15.

Also, the maximum velocity I have been able to achieve with H4350 is around 2,300 fps, as opposed to 2,600 fps with RL-15.

I don't use Woodleighs in my A2 anymore. Only Barnes.

I compress my RL-15 loads as it is and prefer high end velocity, so I don't use H4350 anymore either.

Thankyou folks,

I dont think my .500 A2 is far away it will only have a 20" barrel and then break, the rifle will not be for the prists on here.............I've opted to go for the "tactical" style Big Grin it is being built on a Stiller Tac 338 Ill post a pic or two when it arrives.

What velocity do you think I wil be abale to aacheive with a 20" barrel and the 570 woodleigh ?

I remember reading something one here where a knowledgable perosn stated that a .500 A2 could function well with a 19" tube, but I could not find the article.

I might create a new topic for these questions. It seems Varget, 2206H or the more expensive RL-15 will be the way to go.

Hey PC

Please keep us in the loop on your build and load development. I should have my 500-A2 sometime next year.
