AA 2230 works very well with the 500 grain bullet in the 458 Win. Has anyone tried it in the Lott?

AA2460 worked a bit better in my 458 American and 458 WM so it might work well in the Lott...more velocity at less pressure and more reloads/case.

8208 is now available and might work even better in all 3, it's one step below AA2460 on the burn rate charts...I have it on my todo list to try. 8208 works VERY well in my 17, 20, 22 and 6mm cals producing better accuracy/ SD and velocity.

Back in the old days--when I was loading 458 Lott I used RL 15 in both the lott and the Winchester. Worked well in both, but today I think I would look for a new powder with them as well. Since AA 2230 seems to be "The Powder" for 458 Winchester, I would think it would also do well in the lott. Where to start?

I had success with AA2230 in mine, but it really hit its stride with H335. H335 gives me the same velocity in a smaller volume (not weight) which is helpful when working with long powder-capacity-robbing bullets like the TSX.

No flies on AA2230, though. It worked a lot better for me than the traditional IMR4320.

i used 2520 my first go around. I worked up to what accurate powders referred to as a maximum of 86 grains. It listed as 2310 FPS with a 24" barrel. This load produced 2340 FPS (chrono) out of my 23" CZ 550. This was on a hot day. Easy extractions. I believe I throttled the load back to 2250 FPS with this powder and excellent accuracy. If you want a 2300+FPS load you can achieve it with AA2520.
