I have one on a 9.3x62. It has optics that are in the vicinity of the Zeiss Conquest and that is saying a lot in my opinion. It has not given any trouble and has been thrown in a plane and gone to Canada, etc. The only negative about it is that I lost the rubber ring on the lens while hunting, the other Nikons I have they can come off quite easily, so I put a dab of RTV to hold it on. Another option to think about is that Zeiss is coming out with a 2.5-8 and a 1.8-5.8 Conquest very soon and they are a bunch lighter than the Nikon which is a little heavy. A shot not taken is always a miss

I suggest looking at the Monarch 2-7 as an alternative. Its lighter, cheaper and performance is about the same. I think the optic zone would confirm this opinion. You might try search, I think this was covered in Optics area before. "shoot quick but take your time"

Nikon's UCC-lenses (on Monarch, Monarch Gold, Titanium and Tactical-models) are great. In a recent German test of light transmission, the Monarch showed the highest values of all the tested riflescopes, including their own Zeiss Victory. Link: www.riflescope.de/PDF/Visier0406.pdf I have a Monarch Gold 2,5-10x56 on my .378Wby, and that is quite hard work for a scope that heavy. Without muzzlebrake I need Leupold's Mark4 rings to keep it in position during recoil. Low-light performance is great, better than f.ex. my Leupold LPS 3,5-14x50 (which I also think is a really great scope). I also have a Monarch 3-9x40 and a Buckmasters 6-18x40, both great value for the money. (excuse my Norwegian-English...)

I had a Nikon 3x9 Monarch on my 416 Rem mag Winchester for 1600 shots no problem.I moved it to another rifle. Its still ticking.I like the 3x9 for my 416 for close shots and shots up to 300 yards.

I had a nikon 4-12 Monarch on a 300 win mag. Glass was great but the recoil would beet the crap out of it POI would change everyonce and awhile. I sent it back after it broke for good and after it was fixed it went on my 270 win. I think my occurence was rare with these scopes but it definately scared me into nice optics with large recoil guns. JMHO -Everybody has a dream hunt, mine just happens to be for a Moose.- -The 30-06 is like a perfect steak next to a campfire, a .300 Win Mag is the same but with mushrooms and a baked potato-
