Bigger the Better. Out building the 700NE

Sidney HiscoxBigger the Better. Out building the 700NE
An old favourite of a topic i would like to raise again.
Could anything be made bigger then a 700NE?
i have heard of the legend of the 1.008 Vincent Buffalo Thumper but do not know enough. Did Saeed ever make a bullet or even a Rifle.
i collect all sorts of unusual bores in both rifles and shotguns and now i am looking for the biggest. i would love to hear what is out there and if i am lucky hear from Saeed himself.

GeorgeSThe 1.008 VBT is a concept cartridge only. Saeed has built neither rifle nor round.
JD Jones of SK Industries has built rifles in .750JDJ and .950JDJ (I fired that one). Those are the largest chamberings that I know of.

That is easily done with Robgunbuilder's 12GaFH.
It is .729" caliber (bigger than the 700 NE), and the case is 3.85" long (700 NE is 3.5" case length).
It can be made with tight chamber to fit the 12ga-3.85" brass made from 50BMG with screw-on rims,
or with standard 12-ga chamber diameters to fit the turned brass from RMC.
Rob's 12 Gauge From Hell, which he is building into a double-rifled-shotgun, side-by-side, beats the 700 NE.
Still portable.

boom stickAs far as sporting rounds go I think the 12 GFH is king. More power than most can take, use regular 12 ga. ammo and LEGAL in all 50 states. Since you are in England you might be able to find an original 12 bore better than us here in the states.
Pac-nor makes a 20 MM .835" rifled barrel.
I designed a concept 800 Godzilla for that barrel to work on bolt action 12 gauge rifles. It is a belted design with the same rim size as the 12 gauge but you have to turn cases from solid brass and that means low preasure

MacifejSpeaking of - how's Rob's double coming along?

Jesus Christ!!! the .950 JDJ must be massive. what was the kick like??
also is there any possibility you could post a photo of it?

GrandpasezHere is 4bore falling block we are doing.Check the
12GA From Hell thread on this big bore forum.
And this one will make the JD one seem a pissant.
As it will take high pressures and is full
length, not shortened like JD. The slugs will
end up at 1600 gr hollowbased,
as the barrel is smooth bore, and top loads
will be over 2700 fps.. In pic that is a 20mm
I make the 4bore cases from...And my 700HE will get
twice the energy as a 700NE..Ed

I call guns in this class,"Stunt Guns". Recoil will keep most shooters from getting a fast follow-up shot.
At some point you need to add wheels to the gun, I did.

Sidney Hiscoxthis is a post i found from 2001 by Saeed:
" Gentlemen,
We are trying to get suitable actions and barrels for all sorts of crazy calibers Walter has worked out.
Right now he is too busy trying to find out what tricks we have in store for him in Africa.
We received some 12 caliber barrels the other day, and poor old Walter was stumped!
We told him they were blank barrels, and the hole was only to guide the drill.
He named these the "Dot" calibers!
We have also made a dummy of a cartridge which we hope to develop in the future.
The case is 9 1/4" long, and the diemeter of the bullet is 1.741". "
Pretty insane if you ask me!!
Also i live in England and i was wondering if it was possible to buy the S&H 2 bore cartridge case or bullet head anywhere in my homeland? the "small" bullet in the image above is actually a 700NE!
Loaded round on the left is a 700 NE shown for size.

With the muzzle brake, the rifle weighed 48lbs., so recoil was non-existent.
I only have 8mm video of me shooting it, no photos. Here is a photo of the round, next to a .50BMG cartrtidge:
Here is a description of the round:

"Dos Diablos," the 12GaFH side-by-side Zabala double on steroids, shall ride and shoot straight with Robgunbuilder!

Rob,
Be sure to wear a Zorro outfit for the video of you firing a quick one-two with Dos Diablos.
Better dismount before you fire.

You could e-mail Jay at SH Precision. Definitely a conversation piece and a must have for your collection. The cases from an engineering view are works of art.
Good luck

Idaho SharpshooterI'm on the list for one of Ed's actions. I am thinking to shorten the 25mm machine cannon, since I found somebody with a couple hundred once-fired cases for sale. That would pretty much replicate the Vincent.
