Ray, I understand that it is now a 458 Lott, what I was curious about was what barrel was screwed onto the action before it was re-barreled. Joe "I can't be over gunned because the animal can't be over dead"-Elmer Keith

Sorry to interupt the question, but this is a very timely thread for me to read, as I'm considering putting a Stainless Ruger #1 in 458 Lott on layaway. I've a 450/400 Ruger #1. Factory velocities are manageble, but when I adventured over the traditional low pressures with a 300 gr barnes recoil became an entirely new experience. But a 400 gr .410 bullet at 2150 is acceptable- is that reason enough to believe I could take a Lott? I thought it would be fun to have it as a Buffalo gun, loaded down mostly, and up for any occasion where I got drew successfully for elk. munk
