Hey Bwananich, I know they can vary quite a bit, but if it helps I had my Pac-nor barrel at 24" .275 dia. I measured a cuple of wimchester
Safri Express they ran from .290 to .320 hope that helps. allen PS Dakota I belive is .650 usually.

Thanks Allen,
I have a Safari Express and I am trying to get a NECG rear sight through their online store and they ask to specify the barrel diameter. I don't have my rifle with so can't measure. The barrel diameter options for the sight I want on their site start at .600/.675 and upwards. Confused

Oh man, they come with all sorts of muzzle diameters. Typical barrel contours put on .375 H&H are #4 or #5, but some factory barrels are considerably heavier than that - Steyr springs to mind. If you are ordering a front sight for an existing barrel, though, and the diameter has to be specified within a pretty limited interval, I think it would be rather "brave" of you if you ordered based on what other peoples' barrels measure.

do this
1 decide where on the barrel you want to mount the rear sight.....and mark it with a piece of electrical tape.

2 find a caliper...digital, vernier. or dial and measure the barrel diameter there.

3 give that number to NECG.

You are just going to have to neasure it. Maybe, MAYBE, someone elses M70 will have a bbl. close enough that they can provide your measurement. It will be over .700", I'll bet on that.
