Does anyone know the parent case for this?
It looks very wide/huge. Is it a necked down .600 or .700NE? If so, surely the double across the breeches would be very wide, wider than a .500NE?
In photos the case body is much wider than the .510" bullet diameter, and the .500NE is not obviously. Its gives 2400fps, I think with a 570gr bullets, so essentialy a .500A2 in a double? Perhaps you would want that extra heft??

Anyone know the history on this one, I assume its recent adoption?

Cheers

gixxer,

It looks like an overgrown .577-.450 to me. cheers

It ought to be quite potent in a big Gibbs- or Farquharson-style single-shot.

Cheaper to get our 12GA FH case when
rim is on, before we fireform it to our 12ga
chamber and just fireform to a blown out
50 cal chamber. A 50 Cal Rimmed Improved
so to speak. Or leave original
shoulder as is for 50 Cal Rimmed. You
could cut it back to 700NE length also.Ed.

To get a case capacity that matches the powder charge? Only thing I can think of.

Pie in the sky. Where is the double rifle chambered for this 1999 or earlier experiment by WR?

Is it an inside joke at WR?

One-of-a-kind Arab/WR/Horneber stunt rifle according to 500 grains. Just takes enough money.

So for money, they throw away pride, sence and tradition. In my book that spells prostitution.
I'd loved to tell that arab gentleman no, point blank in his face.

Brent,

taste, arabs, common sense, and money. Pick any two. Seriously, not all rich folks (of any nationality) have all four like our host here. Considering that a 600NE is mostly a 3" all brass 20gauge shotgun shell, and a 700NE a 12 gauge "big-ger" brother, a standard 12gauge size frame would be very adequate, strengthwise. Ballistics all out of proportion to size...quite a monster. Pressurew would be fairly low, and case life would be excellent.
But, tacky, nonetheless...

I agree, its harms my 'classic double sensibilities' too but without starting a political pissers, I don't think we can say 'arabs' have no taste or class...I mean the .700NE was bit of a tacky 'over done' experiement for its time too? The .577 T-rex? Look at some of the tacky junk in firearms that has come out as a result of other interests too...(a gawdy looking .30 Cody express?)

Just my .02

Cheers
