They're not in Montreal, but in Sherbrooke and are not know for buiding hunting rifles, especially those on CRF actions. They apparently have a reasonable reputation for the work that they do.

As for the Custom Shop Model 70s, I do own one and have handled a few others and haven't seen the quality problems others have--but I guess the moral of that story is that Winchester QC is variable, so be careful.

The sights and the dark wood are the only complaints I have. The sun in these photos actually makes the wood look much lighter than it generally shows.

Hein offer blueprinted cartridge specific length actions,integral bolt handles,proper bedding, high grade bottom metal,true custom barrel fitting and proper feeding , all for $2700.....with the option to add or change features or address any problems.

Lets see, winchester offers a cabofftherank reciever,bolt handle thats been rammed up the ass of the bolt body,inferior bottom metal,average barrel work,dubious feeding....thinking that the name "winchester" and word"custom"is enough to get them through.
If a man wants a McDonaldsM70 thats fine, but charge him accordingly, I didnt think "fries"with the burger would bring the price up to $2500.

I suppose no-one holds agun at anyones head as to which one to buy, but if they were to do so,you would hope that it would be the Win,cause you have better odds of a solid jamming on the way in to the chamber,...giving you a chance to get away!
Warranty aint worth 1/4oz of cat crap when your in the field.

Point of clarification, $185 for the receiver and barrel only, $290 for complete barreled action including internals.

So if I order a Hein rifle from you it is a $290 option to have the entire barreled action, magazine parts, internals, etc done up in Robar?

Not exactly, with shipping and insurance back and forth to Robar it comes to $400.00.
