Hey fellas,

I am relocating to Fort Worth and wanted to inquire as to good rifle ranges in the area. Shotgun ranges would be nice (both trap and skeet) but are not necessary. I am looking for a range with quite a big bore community if one exists. I am hoping to shoot at least out to 200 yds. Thanks in advance!

Any locations in Dallas would work just fine as well considering it's only 30 minutes away! Big Grin

Hello Fusino, the Grand Prairie gunclub is heavy on shotgun and has benches for yardages to 200 yds. This is halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth. I am a member of another range that is 1 hr. east of Dallas and we can shoot to 300 yds. We have no provision for shotguns. The North Texas range is in Denton and has shotgun, pistol, and rifle to 200 yds. I can get contact info for you if you wish. There are several more in the area. Butch

Elm Fork in Dallas has a pretty good shotgun setup...sporting clays, five stand, skeet, trap. I really like the sporting clays course. They also have a separate rifle range, but its really nothing special, just a 100 yd range. All of their energy went into their shotgun sports. http://www.elmfork.com/

Another one that I've been to several times is Quail Creek. http://www.quailcreekrange.com/

It's just a simple 100 yd rifle range and pistol range and its located off of I35 north of Ft. Worth.

You also have the Quail Creek public range which is just north of Alliance Airport.
Sits in NW corner of I 35E and FM 1187.

Which reminds me of a couple things...
you'll hear several jokes about i-20 between d and fw.... not to mention that you can probably see BOTH d and fw from that range.

Fusino,
this is TEXAS... and it's DALLAS.... there's tons of ranges, and, as mentioned, it's shotgun heavy. Dallas folks like to think of Houstonians as bumpkins and rednecks, due to our being 265 miles south of them...

Houstonians, on the other hand, being the wise and kind people, look 265 miles NORTH and aren't totally convinced they are yankees!!!!

Mr. Jeffe, we know that you are bumpkins and rednecks! I am lucky, I'm from east of Dallas. Our gene pool is limited to sisters and cousins. We are a very happy sort. Butch

Well, being that I'm originally from Houston, have lived in Austin for the past 6 years and am moving to Dallas/Ft Worth, I definitely have all of my bases covered!! Big Grin
