For those that are interested, it was published in the 1984 Gun Digest. Hopefully one of the copies I'm sending out will get scanned, and e-mailed around. I'd like to burn copies for all, but am still trying to get caught up with work after the holidays.

I'm curious, will a laminated stock still require the cross bolts, or is it strong enough, being laminated, that it won't need them? ~~~Suluuq

Paul, thanks for posting the article. Especially that VanHorn rifle. I've a few 14/17 Enfields that need to be turned into something useful, and that gave me some ideas. Thanks again. - Dan

Suluuq, It depends on what caliber you are contemplating. On your 375 whelen, I'd expect a stong laminated stock to hold up ok. On a 458 lott and up, I'd want both a cross bolt, and a second barrel recoil lug. PS, did you look into getting that book?
