I have been reading on various posts that the 450 rigby is a great .458 round. lower pressures, great performance. I cannot find any info on this cartridge anywhere. how about brass? I currently have a 458 win mag on a P17 enfield action. I would consider going to something more powerful with lower pressures and the 450 rigby seems like an interesting alternative. any help. not interested in 458 lott.

dr john... here's the funny history... 416 rigby (1914? or 1912) weatherby copied, belted, and ran the pressure up.. 416 wbby and 460 weatherby... 460 weatherby has high pressure and a belt... 1995 the 450 rigby was released (1 9 9 5) which is a 460 weatherby, derimmed, reshouldered, and run at moderate pressure... which you can get from running a 416 riby BASIC brass through a 450 rigby die... run 500 gr at 2300... it will fit in an enfield, with ALOT of work jeffe if you think of the 416 weartherby as a belted highpressure 416 rigby, then think of the 450 rigby as a debelted lowere pressure 460 weatherby opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? That would make a nice rifle on an enfield action.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Dr John, just out of curiosity, why no interest in the Lott? Afterall, it is just a reamer away, and 2300 fps with a 500 grn bullet is most certainly Lott territory.
