Weighs a little too much, safety could be a HAIR longer. genreally needs about $50 in feeding other than that, perfect jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I just bought a new Magnum in 375 and have dropped a Timney trigger in it (sear and lighter spring only...I kept the rest "stock"), put a 1.5 x 5 Leupold in QD Warne mounts on it and am awaiting a NECG white bead front site. In addition, I am putting a Limbsaver pad on it to increase LOP and soften the blow a bit. The trigger is now about 2.5 #'s and as crisp as it gets....if I put the original spring back in and use the new sear only, it raises the pull to about 4 #'s...but still very crisp. I have fed it....and I mean jacking the rounds thru it as fast as I can...260gr Accubonds, 270gr Remington round nose softs and 300gr Sledgehammers.....not a single hitch. I'm going to do some smoothing of the action and call it a day. The wood, etc. on this rifle is awesome and I personally feel that it's a great value for the $$ spent. Go get one. Gary

Some do not like the fact that it actually lacks an action lug.

PC, the ruger has a fantastic action lug, it's teh barrel lug people have trouble with... if one must, mill 2 3/8" slots in the underrib (nearly the same as the quarter rib), put a piece of ducttape on the front edge of those cuts and bed it. opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Jeffe, Huh? Are you The RSM action has no recoil lug. It is all in the recoil plate that is bedded under the barrel and extends back to hook over the little round bolster on the action that is about the size of a pencil eraser nub. All the recoil forces bear on that one little nubbin of a bolster on the bottom of the action. One recoil lug on the whole rifle, and that is the detachable recoil plate bearing in the barrel channel of the stock. It is a very accurate system, that can be said for it ... The standard Ruger M77MkII does have a great action lug.

I've had 2, a 416 Rigby and a 458 Lott. I've shot and worked on a buddy's 300 win mag and shot a 375. My take; Cons: -Safety lever too small -Goofy ruger bedding system -made for the Rigby, other boxes aren't properly dimensioned -Stock is blocky -a little rough at first -trigger needs work -bluing between reciever and barrel often mismatched -Recoil pad is way to hard Pros: -Wood is from nice to real nice -Strong scope mounting system -safety blocks firing pin -the 4 I've shot shot pretty well -interchangable front site blade -stout action Conclusion, To make them really run it's best to spend a little money to improve the trigger and feeding. A nice gun for the money. To get something much nicer you have to spend much much more.................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

Rip, the 45deg front screw is a locking and (well, sort of) recoil surface and yeah, a little knub! DJ, the bluing will probably always be different colors, the purple is from the cast receiver. You have to get a salt bath right at the critical temp to get it to blue/black... that is, right at the max you can keep a bath at, without bluing additives. opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Hello, I have three and all have striking wood, smooth as silk, and trigger right at 4 lbs. To duplicate with custom builder, you would be in the area of twice if not more than the list of the Ruger RSM. Best deal out there for my money. Have shot each several times (between 60-80 rounds-reloads) and no problems so far. Lots of stories about split stocks, etc., but so far no problems of any kind. 375, 458 Lott, and 416 Rigby delivers under 1 moa at 100 yards w/ Nikon 1x4 Monarch scopes on each from bench/bag. Easy to shoot off hand for rifles are a bit on the muzzle heavy side, but I like that for off hand shooting. The rifle is basically an American made Mauser design, CRF, square bridge, solid machined rib equipped barrel, express sights, barrel band sling, classic big game rifle suitable for dangerous game anywhere on planet Earth. Must not forget that it is also American Made!!
