I have had my hands on a lot of them. Two main questions will help to narrow down the choice: What is the intended use of the rifle? Makes a lot of difference as to what action to use. What is the cartridge? Another very important question: How much money do you intend to spend on the completed rifle?

The action used by Lazzeroni is made by McMillan. I think Mcmillan also makes the "Talon" action for Harris.

David Gentry somewhere in MT makes magnum length mauser actions. $4500 Butch Search in CA uses the Selous South Africa magnum length mauser and adds his own magazine box. $3000 or $4000 or something like that. Granite Mt Arms in Prescott makes a magnum length mauser action with a .750 bolt diameter. $3500

By the way, don't forget 1914 and 1917 Enfield. There is a lot you can do with those LOOOOOOOOONG enfield actions.

Looks like I forget a few NECG newenglandcustomgun.com I only wanted to put together a list of action makers, not about what would be the factors in deciding which action to go with. That is where your opinion comes in to play. Also maybe this list would help others in picking a action to build a custion off of. What I would like to find is an action that will handle the 460/.510" with military ball or the 505/.510" with military ball. I would like to find a bolt with a mag lenght to handle these rounds. The longest one I can find is the Johannsen which acording the the gun smith I talked to is 4.250" which will handle the 460/.510" if memory serves me, but I will need 4.80" or so for the 505/.510". I would like to stay away form the 50 BMG action so I will not have the extra lenght in the action during cycling. I am planning a trip to Well sports store to see what they can do, since they are only 5 hours away from me. So if you fellow big bore shooters can add any info to this post to help me or others select a action please do. Thanks RNS

The NECG action is the Johannsen action, as NECG is Johannsen's importer. It's a pretty close copy to the original magnum mauser with a couple of improvements that are not aesthetically discernible.
