I just gave up on filling and sanding, and covered the MPI stock with Valspar Stone Enamel (Manhattan Mist--gray texture paint).
The clear coat was applied thicker on the buttstock to smooth the face contact point.
Nice gripping everywhere else.

It's a 5-shooter: 4 down and one up.

Very Excellent shooting! Stock looks good! I prefer wood of course, but that is rather handsome. Good Job. Excellent that you finally got the brass too!

Don't sweat it buddy, with a brass Non Con, that boy won't be using that right arm anymore, in fact, I doubt he even picked the arm up, before running like hell. Also, he won't have much use for that AK in that hand either!

RIP,

That paint job gives me an idea on how to fix a flubbed stock I've got sitting around.

Thanks!

Y'all,
I did not plan the Osama shoot, it was simply a target of opportunity.
My fellow bubbas at the range were popping away with their .223 ARs and pistols, at Osama targets.
One good ol' boy, whom I had befriended previously, graciously offered up a 300-yarder.

The orange dot should have been placed on Osammie's nose instead of his forehead.
I just got confused with the joke dot placement after the shooting.
I was actually aiming at his nose tip.
The drop was only 6" at 300 yards, not 9". tu2

Thanks for all the humorous replies,
even if I only took out the top of Osama's humerus.

Doc M, yes thinking of the NONCON taking that arm plumb off was heart warming.
And yes, it was the "shooting arm" jeffeosso, or am I confused,
Is Osama left handed instead of right handed?

Valspar STONE Clear Sealer.
One can of paint and one can of sealer, should do 2 rifles or more.

.395 Tatanka = .395/.416 Rigby with shoulder angle changed from 45 degrees to 20 degrees.
Sort of a .338 Lapua Long, necked up to .395 caliber.
Yes, I have a .398 Lapua Magnum also. Smiler

RIP,
Happy to hear and see that your .395 Tatanka is doing well. Didn't draw and elk license in Colorado this year for my favorite area. Will have to wait until next year...unless I find something interesting at the Dallas show. Should be healed enough by then.

Quickly, run get the 395 and bust the bastards other arm off! See how he likes going around with no damn arms! While you are at it, take both legs too! See how he likes rolling around in the dirt for awhile!

Max,
Keep plugging with the .395 Ruger Max, when you get good and healed and haired over.
Your buddy, you, and I may eventually revive the muchly missunderestimated .395 caliber rifle! thumb

Jeff,
Thanks for the pointer. Very tricky guy, feigning right-handed shooting when he is really a lefty.
I'll hold well into the wind next time and go for the left arm, then the legs ... Great idea Doc M!

How about a .395 B&M PROF? That way we have something for the Winchester guys. Performance?

Nah. RIP is the GURU and developer for all .395 cartridges. Since I have my .395 Max and my .400/.395 on my Ruger #1 (currently being reblued due to the engraver making in .400/.375 Mad)I'm holding off on any new wildcats.

IBT,
The .395 Ruger Max works great in Winchester M70s of medium length.
The short ones are already well served.
If we add another (a .395 B&M) the work load inspired by such superior performance in initial tests might overwhelm Doc M at MIB.

And for Sevens, fixing the flubbed stock, like I did with the coverup on my MPI stock:

Manhattan Mist is the "color."
Follow directions on can.
Just rough sand the stock, mine had been primed and painted and then sanded twice before.
Bare metal needs primer, but wood or fiberglass just needs to be rough sanded and clean of any oil or grease.

Two light coats of paint. Then two light coats of the "Clear Sealer." This leaves a rough surface that is perfect for gripping.
I put some extra coats of the clear sealer on the left side of the buttstock where my cheek goes, to make it pleasantly smooth for the cheek in recoil.

Max,
That is wonderful news, that another 400/.395 Nitro Express 3-Inch Aboriginal has been born.
One of these years, it will get the respect it deserves.
I hope to see photos of your beauty here, IIRC, you had a fancy engraved Ruger No.1 that was rebarreled?
Special. beer

It is as good as any stock finish I know of for physical durability and resistance to solvents.
It is surely easy to touch up if needed.
I use:
Wipe Out
Gun Scrubber
Break Free CLP
and keep some Hoppes No. 9 to use as cologne.

Jay,
Yep, a little dab of Hoppes No. 9 on top of the Old Spice really drives her wild. Like catnip. animal

Never fear, the S&H .395/325-grain VLD "Pointy Ripper" will be up next, after I go collect some more game meat with the S&H .395/310-grain VH.

The only kind of PR that Osama Been Hiding needs is a "Pointy Ripper."
