Hi everyone.I hope no one calls me stupid for useing a big bore on this site. I had McGowan rebarrel my 550 Safari mag 300 win . In a stainless 10" twist 22" 416 Rem Mag.Had him countour it to include the dogknot which they machined like the original . The brake has 20 ports and is neither overly loud or too long and makes the rifle very fun to shoot. I put it in a MPI double x magnum drop box stock which I really like as it is nice and slender. I put a Burris 1.5-6x 40 mm 1 " tube E dot scope on it It is the Signature Select scope and it is great. Rings in 30 mm were too hard to find and the scope is so brite and the reticle is very black, easy to pick up quickly. The Electro dot isn,t what I understood from the advertiseing but is what I wanted in the first place and I like it. Shot 2 Sitka Black tail deer with it yesterday. Head shots 75 yrds and around a hundred yrds.My load is a 300 gr Barnes X bullet that I moly coat. 86 gr H 4895 w/215 primer .My other load is the 350 TSX Moly coated w/ 82 gr H 4895. The most accurate will win in the long run. My question to CZ would be why do they not make this cartridge in a factory rifle. It is a 6 shot Everything rifle. I imagine it will do well with 400 gr bullets also. Right now we are snowed out of our range so I,ll have to do my cronographing on the beach somewhere.. Have a good day... gumboot out.p.s. All of McGowans work was very attractive and it only took 27 days sent-return The price was very affordable for it all also..

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Do you have a picture of this rifle setup? I have yet to see an MPI stock that looks good.

sounds nice

why doesn't cz make it factory? the 416 rem had a reputation for being very high pressure and spiky, and their action fits the 416 rigby (yes... i meant to say it that way), which isn't.

they did make a limited run of 602s in 416 rem.

great round, but when you can put a rigby in it, you just gotta!!!

personally, I would think since they offer the 550 Safari Magnum in 416 Rigby, they do not see anything to be gained by offering it in 416 Rem except the pain in the ass by having to figure which 416 the customer is ordering. The Rigby will run 400gr bullets out the barrel at nearly 2700fps, the Rem is done at 2400 pretty much.

I would rather see them offer the 550 Safari Magnum in 338 Lapua and 470 M'bogo as well as the new for 2007 550 Magnum that Neal Shirley designed.
