1000 gr bullet at over 2000 fps fired from almost 20 pounds rifle is for pussies.

Last time, we shoot 900 gr bullet at 2200 fps out of my 10 pounds, 8.4 oz .585 HE rifle. It was starting load.

At the bottom, there is a link to video on YT: https://forums.accuratereloadi...651029572#8651029572

Dennis Olson built one like that. I saw it several years ago. I couldn't sit through the ads on Scott's show to see what the rifle looks like.

Yep, that's what I saw at Dennis' shop. That had to be 10 years ago.

True that :-) He also liked his 12" LOP so it fit with his heavy coat in Alaska.

Sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Lots of reasonable calibers will more than do the job.

Ed Hubbel offered me a Mauser in 585HE for a great price, but the stock was broken. I ended up saying no thank you. A wildly impractical rifle that can break its own stock just wasn’t for me.

I was the first to receive the jamison straight walled 505 gibbs cases, and stuck a .585 in it -- looked like it would work, but Boomstick wanted to swage a belt into it to work. I send him a couple cases and bullets - Dimensionally? Ed Used the drawing boomie did to make his 577 -
