boom stick375 ruger 8x68 same capacity ?
the ruger will have approx 100 grains of water capacity (rumored 4% MORE THAN 375 H+H)
question is wont the ruger be the same capacity as the 8x68? or a min taper version?
so the 323 ruger (8mm) will have the same performance as the 8x68 and roughly the same for the 338 and 358 versions
so the advantages are
.16" shorter (advantage depends on action)
standard boltface
375 dia bullet
ability to load long
non rebated (crossing fingers)
ect...

Mike McIf the 375 Ruger is 2.5" long and we assume the shoulder is .518.......528 has been put up for the shoulder but I think that was a typo because the taper would be too small and I think I did see .518 put up somehwere just recently.....then I think the Ruger 375 will be about 4% bigger than the 8 X 68.
Average diameter of the 8 X 68 is .5" and the 375 Ruger (assuming a .518 shoulder) would be .525 and that should increas capacity byabout 10%. However the 8 X 68 is about 6% longer.
It is very difficult to see the 375 Ruger having a rebated rim. Firstly there is no need. Secondly the WSMs and RUMs were rebated so the rim would fit standard magnum bolt face.....remember that the WSMs and RUMs are about .550 to .555 on the head.
Personally, I think the 300 and 338 Rugers and possibly 7mm Ruger are in the pipeline and the 375 Ruger is a test run....and there will be a surge of buyers initially and the 375 Ruger (being 375) will allow for much higher pricing of the ammo than would be the case for a 300 or 338 Ruger.

I reckon you are right, Mike.

But you do have shocking "form" on predictions

Mike McBut Blair, think of my potential.
All I need to do is make predictions and then do the opposite. I wonder if this ability could be used for the stock market.

Idaho Sharpshooter.366 Torque,
I believe it was Einstein who said "...the primary difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits...". There is nothing I can add to that.

lawndartIf somebody has a set of dies I can resize a few 8x68S cases so you can try the new toys out.

RIPLD,
You want someone (not me) to fire a case that is .511" in the rim and .523" in the head, in a chamber designed for brass that measures .532" in rim and head?

Mike McRon,
I reckon some of these blokes should confine their rifles to Wby Mark V or Rem 700s

Probably the Mark V because it seats the case much deeper in the chamber than the Rem 700
