CZ 'resurects' the .425WR?

kayakerCZ 'resurects' the .425WR?
I see they are catalogued now by CZ...any one seen or used one?
Will the .416 Taylor and .425WR be on the mag or std action? (I am assuming mag action due to bolt face dimensions and keeping costs down).
Cheers
Kayaker,
As I understand they will be on the standard CZ550 action, not the mag.

gumboot458I,m not sure but I think they will use the Medium action .. It is a perfect size for the standard mag carlridges .....
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....
03 May 2009, 01:20
kayakerThats interesting,
I assumed the mag length action as the .300Win and .458Win have been on mags and should ideally have been on the STD length.
Will be interesting to see how many .425's are sold....
CZ has made the 300 WinMag on both the 550 Magnum and the 550 Medium.
The 425 WR makes the 500 Jeffery look more sensible in comparison.

BuliwyfHello again good doctor,
Question: what do you mean about "more sensible"?
Buliwyf,
Get a dictionary.
03 May 2009, 09:06
BuliwyfHello good doctor,
Thanks for the dictionary advice. But, the question stands as asked; what do you mean about "more sensible"?
03 May 2009, 09:19
BOHEMONDAre there any obsolete rimless cartridges which CZ have not brought out of retirement?
BOHEMOND,
Are you insinuating that CZ is operating under the philosophy of P. T. Barnum?
"There's a sucker born every minute."
I love those CZ's, but this is getting ridiculous.
It is not nice to dig up an Ugly Duckling's grave.

BuliwyfGood doctor,
Please answer the simple question put to you. What did you mean by your statement?
Buliwyf,
Cut the crap and go read the other threads ... again!
If you can't stand the heat, put me on ignore!

03 May 2009, 09:44
BOHEMONDIndeed. They and Ruger/Hornyday with rimmed nitro calibers. Who will revive the pinfire cartridges?

BuliwyfBOHEMOND,
CZ knows there is a resurgence in the Classics and they are rightly trying to capture that market. Those Classic larger bore magazine chamberings are:
1. .375 H&H
2. .416 Rigby
3. .404 Jeffery Rimless (.423 caliber)
4. .425 Westley Richards (.435 caliber)
5. .505 Gibbs
6. .500 Schuler/Jeffery (.510 caliber)
Ther are no .450 or .458 magazine rifles b/c they were outlawed by the British Empire in India and the Sudan.
CZ has numerous under .375 caliber "obsolete" chamberings to bring out of retirement. GO CZ!
03 May 2009, 09:56
BuliwyfNo heat intended Dr. Berry. Just a request that you explain "more sensible" between .425 WR and .500 Jeffery.
03 May 2009, 09:59
BOHEMONDSeems an English firm would have adopted this plan adding geographic provinance to the equation. But no. Relaxing of the upper lip is unlikely.
03 May 2009, 10:06
BuliwyfWhat English firm would that be ladd?

Buliwyf,
I see that you have taken your thumb out of your mouth and inserted it up your ass! Yuck!
If you insist on this childishness, first you must explain to me in 300 words or less, what you think "more sensible" means.
Then I will critique your understanding of the English language.
Heat intended.

Dr. Berry, a simple question: why did you make this statement?
Buliwyf:
You get grade "F" for "failure" in reading comprehension and ability to follow instructions.
Get that thumb out of your ass and don't you dare stick it back in your mouth, laddie boy.

Start explaining your understanding of the phrase "more sensible," or whatever else you don't understand. Parlez vous Francais?

BuliwyfGood Doctor Berry,
What drove you to make your post the 425 WR makes the 500 Jeffery look more sensible in comparision?
Just a simple request that you explain your position. Please.
Buliwyf,
Hmmm, I see. You are an idiot.
My psychotherapeutic Rx for you: Group therapy. Group of two. PM shootaway and commiserate to your heart's content about drool bucket and shooting helmet qualities you have found most wanting.
This has been great fun, but really now, it's past your bedtime. Nite nite.

Again Dr. Berry, please tell us why you made this statement.

BuliwyfGood night Dr. Berry.
As a member of the AR senior leadership with 13,339 posts the world reads your opinion.

ozhunterBuliwyf,
In my opinion any round in 40cal shooting a 400grn+ bullet at between 2100 to 2350fps is ideal for Clients to use on Buff, Lion and Ele.
Imo, whats far more important is that its balanced, not too heavy, reliable and you can shoot it well, accurately and certainly not be scared of it.
Much prefer to use my 425 at 2200fps than my mated big CZ 416Rig.
Ps, Don't get too worked up. Some people can't help being an Ass from time to time. Heck, it happens way too often and there's just not enough time.

03 May 2009, 14:56
HogLeg458I will have to add a .425 WR to my collection, the look on other people's faces when I tell them what I am shooting will be worth it.
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"-Carl Sagan
A tempting addition for my collection as well.

A 425 WR as a conversation piece for the range, or a queen for the safe, has some minimal merit. Don't forget the pith helmet and monocle.
04 May 2009, 00:29
Idaho SharpshooterRIP,
don't be bullheaded!! Just explain the comparative disadvantages of the seriously rebated rim cartridges to the regular ones.
Buliwyf,
rebated cases, with much of a differential between rim and body diameter are a major pain in the posterior to make feed reliably (in a DG rifle that is 100%). That and very few options for DGS/DGX (excuse me Hornady) bullets these days. I am going to try and get one next year, if I can play with it enough to make sure it is Africa-worthy in the 21st century.
Now, you two play nice. Especially you, RIP! Share your knowledge, do NOT assume. You have a responsibility to educate newbies.

boom stickIf there were a surplus of larger boltface mauser rifles I think the 425 could have been wildly popular considering the minimal mods needed on the mausers
Rich,
You may not have followed this previously.
I have addressed Buliwyf ad nauseum in previous threads on this same subject, recently, and directly to him.
I am not going to play along with his assinine behavior any longer.
He simply does not want to understand anything that detracts from his new romance with the 425 WR. He can have it! Serves him right! I hope he gets one really soon!

gumboot458.. I wonder if they will notch out the rear bridge for stripper clips ?????

Would you disagree?
04 May 2009, 09:54
Idaho SharpshooterI want one, just because, I want one...! I have a 6-284 so I have dealt with that rebated rim issue before. Don't know if it will go to Africa with me, its' turn is five safaris down the line and I may not live that long. It will kill anything in the world, but the feeding issue is valid.

ozhunterPlease! Anyone with a 425WR that has had issues with it feeding, please tell us.
Up till now I have heard of no one that has owned one that has experienced such an issue. Mind you I have seen a 404 with such a problem..
04 May 2009, 13:06
gumboot458I only want one if I can use stripper clips with it .

BuliwyfHello gentlemen,
Sorry to have been away. Peckish friends and big stuff to sort out you know.
My dear Oz, perfect advice. Thank you.
HogLeg458, you got that right brother!
Mr. Rusty, don't miss this opportunity.
Will: Don't understand your post.
Good doctor Berry: The .425 WR has an impecable record? The pith helment and monocle are Africa
personified. What is your comment on some minimal merit?
Idaho: Well, you're just Idaho.
dear boomie, You're spot on!
Good doctor Berry: No, good doctor, you have not. I hope it does serve me right that I get a .425 Westley Richards.
dear gummie, No.
Dr. Berry, it would help our younger members and our non-African history members to understand why a senior leader of AR like yourself critizes a cartridge. Please explain your dis-respect for the .425 Westley Richards.
