My Ruger Hawkeye Africa in 375 Ruger has been to the smith for a little upgrading.
For a standard production rifle I feel that it came out with flying colors

The work is as follows:
- Stock bedding
- Extra crossbolt with ebony blind plugs
- Packmayr Decellerator
- New oil stock finish
- Barrel band sling swivel
- Ebony forend cap

Feeding and trigger was ok, so nothing is done there so far.
It needs a bit more oil on the stock, work for the rainy days.

Now the funny part start...loading and testing

Really nice. That is how Ruger should build them to begin with IMO.

That looks REALLY good Arild, a GREAT idea to do that sort of work and go from fairly plain to what you now have.

That looks great. I wish Ruger would offer the hawkeye in a version that looks like that.

The main reason for going the 375 Ruger way was that I wanted a reasonably light rifle with some degree of Ooomph
With a Nikon Monarc Gold 1,5-6x42 it tips he scale at exactely 4,2 kilos.
With the old Leupold Vari X III 2,5-8x36 a tad lighter

The RSM is a nice but heavy rifle, and I liked the idee getting 375H&H perfomance out of a trimmer packedge.

I was willing to spend some money to give it a personal touch, which I feel that I have obtained.
Probably the closest I will ever get to a "custom" rifle

I like a barrel band sling swivel, and the ebony for tip adds a touch of class.
The oil finish looks good too.
I really don't claim to no what i am doing but I have a pre 64 featherweight .308 that I did an oil finish on.
I did tounge oil beacuse I was told it is more weather resisitant, but from time to time I pull it out of the safe and rub some other oil on it.
Just about any kind. Hoppes gun oil seems to shine it up nice.
and scrathes just need to be oild a few times till they blend in.
