BTSX penetration on elephant skulls
Does anyone have actual experience with the penetration of the Barnes TSX on elephant skulls? I'm thinking 375/404 size bullets. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not advocating the use of TSX over solids, just wondering what kind of penetration could be expected. I have an opinion but want to hear from guys with possible experience.

I read a hunting report here on AR about three years ago about a fellow who shot a bull ele with a side brain shot with a 460Whby and a 500gr TSX because his solid ammo went missing on the trip over. The TSX worked, but it was too close for comfort, IMO. As I recall, the bullet was found in the skull on the opposite side of the shot.

For comparison, my 458wm sends 500gr Woodleigh solids through bull elephants' heads on side brain shots.

The TSX didn't provide enough penetration for many frontal brain shot situations.

You might try a search under Jet Driver and see if you can find the thread.

I think it was Stuntpilot2.

Ganyana says it would work on a cow elephant.

Norbert says don't use an X.
