For a thorough discussion of the topic we should begin with what NOT to do...

That has to be one of the funniest shooting videos I have ever seen.

No 1 for the Centenary Darwin award.

Yep, that kid is about as slow as a game of Scrabble with Mike Tyson,
yet quick enough to turn his cheek and get the punch on the jaw instead of the nose.
That must be the way he flinches.
Quite a flinch!
Think he has tried the same shooting technique before or after that video was shot?
The bouncy psych-up/limber-up before the shot was cute. rotflmo
Was that a BAR in .458 WinMag, or just a .30-06?

Looked to me he was so scared of it he turned his head right before he jerked the trigger. About 50 thousandths of a second short of a broken nose! Probably traded it for a broken jaw.

He had a good idea what was coming and spent the first sconds of the video getting himself jacked up. Then he turned his face away as he yanked on the trigger. Who is dumber, the guy who couldn't figure out what would happen, or the guy who could and did it anyway?

He needs more training! Had he held the gun Homeboy style, he would have distributed the recoil forces over a broader area, i.e. most of his face. He also has a terrible flinch probably brought on by a previous atempt at the proper technique.
I should point out that this method is often used in the process of obtaining gold front teeth and is taught at the pre and high school level in many urban areas where busing has been attributed to improved academic scores ( despite the inability for critical thinking and reading skills).-Rob

If I were hired as his shooting coach, after seeing that, I would recommend that he next support the rifle in his crotch. That would solve the gene pool problem, and get his attention even more.
Wonder if that rifle is now available for a trade. I have a 22 rimfire I think he might like.

I have some sympathy for him, although if he had to pass an IQ test to do it, I'm sure he wouldn't be qualified to breed.

I once fired a .375 H&H Mag. one handed.

We were celebrating on the way back to camp, after I had used it to kill a leopard.

I held it at arm's length, really without thinking too much about it, and fired it at the blue sky.

The web of my shooting hand was sore for a week! Big Grin
