I did not know that Big Doggy had died. That is hard news, as I am sure he must have passed on long before his time. RIP.

I know I always looked forward to Big Doggy's posts here in the Big Bore forum, filled as they always were with images of one huge cannon after another!

Tom, if you have a list of what is for sale, it might be a good idea to post it, or at least make it available to interested buyers.

I would sure like to get that 950JDJ. Have a feeling I'm not going to be able to afford it though.

raffle the "weird" ones -- the ones that are over, say, 5k, and make it work - YOU will need to clear it with Saeed, if or not it can be done here

I'd likely buy several tickets, if at say 1000 tickets or a date/minimum number sold, and say, 20 to 50 each

in fact, i usually buy at least a couple on every raffle for guns of value i see.. no, i wouldn't pay 5 bucks against a 2012 winchester 70 in 270 ... but i would against a 1958 358win, 1 of 1000 tickets

I agree, a raffle might be a good idea for some of them.

I am back from a long Hiatus... or whatever.
Take care.

I'm in for a raffle. Sorry to hear about Big Doggy, only knew him from AR, he always showed knowledge and class.

Regards,

Chuck

I have been reading his posts in the archival pages since I joined AR. If there gets to be a list please post it. When it's my time I hope my Guns get to do a little good for my family.

If raffling, make sure it is legal in your state as well as the state the collection is in. Some states allow that, some don't.

Too bad he can no longer play with his toys. Frowner

I bet he had a lot of cool stuff. Would be interested to see some of them for curiosity's sake. Pretty sure he wouldn't mind showing them off a little.

Ken took big bores to the extreme. He had a 2 bore BP rifle built, and a number of 600 and 700 rifles. He has a revolver made in 460 Weatherby that came apart and broke his hand the first time he fired it. He has having a Browning BAR re-barreled and rechambered to handle the 458 Lott in semi-auto format....I don't know if that one was ever completed. He sold me a Verney Carron 577 double at a great price when that 950 JDJ became available. That rifle is now used by PH Karl Stumpfe as his primary gun. Sad when he passed on unexpectedly.
