People hunt things a lot more dangerous than even the meanest of cows using push feed rifles with detachable magazines.

I have a similar set up but it's a .375 WSM on a rem 700 clone WSM action takes Ai mags and works well.

There is also the facts that back in "the day" there weren't a lot of choices as to which feed system or which rifle were available.

There was also the fact that there were only specific calibers and rifles accepted by law or by peer pressure and there WEREN'T a whole lot of clip fed, hi capacity rifles to be had...nor were there many semi auto, clip fed rifles in large calibers either...still aren't many

In todays world that has changed...many hunters grew up with hi-capacity mags as acceptable items and really never gave it much thought....plus just how many hunters get the chance to go to Africa or other DG.

Most of the arguments for/against can be turned around and use on the opposite end.

Again...it ALWAYS boils down to choice, availability, and desires... I want, What I want, when I WANT IT.
