From my 375-284, I wonder what these would do to coyotes on my brother's land under 100 yds. Anyone ever do something like this (rocketing a bullet at way over its intended velocity to blow things up??)

old4x4,

I do it all the time. They can be very destructive on small kangaroos and pigs.

Although, quite often I have seen more damage (external) done with the 270 and 300 grain Hornady round noses.

A load I like a real lot in the 375 is 220 Hornadies and 39 grains of one of our Australian powders that I think Hodgdon sell as H4227 Extreme.

Seated to the cannedlue ansd with Fed 210s, the accuracy is simply amazing. Does a bit over 2000 f/s, so is sort of like a super accurate 375 Winchester.

Mike 375,
I have two loads using the 210 grain "X" in my .375. One gives 3150 with 1.25 - 1.50 groups but the other, at a pleasant shooting 2,800 fps, will shoot to one hole if I could do it justice! I'm trying to futz with it to impact lower as it shoots 5 inches higher at 100 yards than my 270 "X" loads. I would use it on the small to medium plainsgame in Africa if I can eliminate the need for a scope adjustment.

Nickudu,

375s with good barrels are like most calibers that havea small case capcity for the bore size, that is, shoot different weights to different elevations.

Often if you laod the ligh bullet back they will come togtherm, but that would defeat your purpose for Africa.

I think there two solutions, one 100% success and one a maybe.

The "maybe" is to try different powders such as ball powder and stick powder.

Our Ausralian powders that Hodgdon sells as Extreme often shoot to different points to IMR and Reloader powder.

The 100%er is to get premier reticules to put a reticle with verticle dots in it.

That works great for things like the 22/6mm Imp with a zero out 700 yards with the dots and the "cross wire" xeroes for normal ranges.

Mike,
Yes, I may have to try other powders. I have found that moly coating the bullets and/or playing with a collet crimp is sometimes effective in shifting P.O.I., hopefully, in the desired direction! I thought I'd first try these simpler remedies and hope the present group-size survives.
