that includes a new stock or just cross bolts and repair on your old stock??- I cracked two stocks on one of these- 458 win- 458 lott I had two bags of shot-50 lbs-on it. I wouldn't use them on any thing bigger than 30 cal.

I have used mine (similar) extensively, especially in my two 416 Wby rifles. Never a stock issue.. It works wonderfully. Mousegun - your rifles must have had bad bedding / no cross bolts. In a properly constructed rifle/stock I have never experienced any problems at all

Mousegun1,

Same here for me. We have used it for my 416 Rigby, 375 H&H, 340 Weatherby, 300 Weatherby and all manner of smaller calibers without any problems on stocks, scopes etc. I have only used a sandbag in the tray that took the total weight including the sled to 30 pounds....after all what fun would it be eliminating all recoil Wink

which is why no one is surprised you broke stocks ..

these are to slow them DOWN, fellas .. if you willingly try to break your stock, why complain when you succeed?

ONE bag of shot, 25#

I plead stupidity- The 458 was a single recoil lug- the lott was a laminated single lug .I thought about using one bag= 25 lbs. but the literature said up to three - fired 50-75 rds all together-shot some impressive groups - I didn'nt notice they had split till I was checking the screws- cz warranted the laminated one- the 458 was 5yrs old- out of luck there now they both have two lugs and glass now -live and learn. Would'a been like putting the butt against a tree I'll know better next time

mmm, we have been shooting a variety of heavy rifles for months with a Lead Sled with two 25 pound bags and plan to again tomorrow. I will bring this up with the guys and consider backing off a bag.
Even with 50 pounds, the sled moves back some with heavy loads.

I was shooting my 500 AR, 570 at 2300, off mine on sunday .. with one bag of shot.. and once past 2200, i put an additional bag of sand ... you see, its like 9.5# WITH scope .. and doing chrono work, it will beat you to death
