Impressive.

The near $8k price tag isn't that bad, but the damned thing weighs 17 lbs. (7.7kg).

And based on the schematic, it's not CRF. sofa

Pretty cool but for that kinda dough couldn't you just get a semi auto 50 BMG...?

Wonder if the action would be suitable for some of the mega bores, 600 OK etc...?

Didn't look like it was too bad in the recoil department. Now if I can get Will to carry it for me on the elephant track, I might give it a go.

Good for blasting in the States, but some states prohibit use of the .50BMG for hunting (Idaho, for one IIRC) and others prohibit possession (like California).

True, true. tu2

Can you imagine the look on a guide's face if you show up for a hog hunt with a .600 Overkill semi-auto?

I was wondering when that one was going to show up on these forums. Don't forget the Stiller action- scaled up rem700 clone with .750bolt that will feed 505 gibbs through the 7 shot 4.56" long detatch Chey tac magazine.
Or the Lawton 8000 for that matter..

These are precision .5MOA rifles too Big Grin

The Mag 10 is same a REM SP-10 and it should
work at the moderate factory pressures.
Just got to fix it to feed longer case,
like I'm doing on the Khan 3.5".
The Lawton and Stiller great for my 585HE..Ed

I believe the one in the pic is 375 Chey tac, 408 necked down and part of the same Gibbs/chey tac family. If your government does not like 408, maybe go for one of these or the 416 PGW, 458 Allen etc all based off same case.

you can make them look like a hunting gun with a normal stock......just get the magazine and scope imported separately Wink

wow.. can you give me the specs on the mag, which width action (the tac408 comes in two sizes) and stock?
I'd LOVE to build a 500AccRel with milsurps off and out of that mag!
I emailed stiller about the action .. i'd like to basically build that rifle, 28" barrel, removable brake.. and heavy!

Jeffe,
Not sure on exact details on the pic but its a Lawton 8000 by Dave Viers of Viersco.Stock appears to be Manners MCS-T4A
http://mannersstocks.com/Tactical.html

Stiller tac408 repeater is similar but apparently better quality than the lawton. They haven't updated it on their site yet I don't think with any pics.
Jerry Stiller quotes "1.45" or 1.6" action dia. Bolt is .750" and over all length is 10.35". The tenon is 1.187" - 16 tpi, 1.080" long + lug"

Chey tac mags are standard 7 shot single stack, allowing magazine maximum cartridge length 4.565". Magazine width is .635" at the base of the feed rails.

That's all I got Smiler
A lot cut and pasted from people's mails who know more about it than me.

You're right, I just measured my collector cartridge of .408, and its 16.35mm or 0.645 (mind you, that was with a plastic caliper, as I cannot seem to find my steel one...)

Barrett M82 rebarreled for the .700 RLG (.50bmg case blown out to .700) is very impressive. 1000 gr bullets over 3000fps. Quite possible to convert the bolt to 12gaFH.Loaded with number 6 shot it can deliver a WALL of lead!-Rob

I wouldn't carry a 17 lb. rifle. I had the PH carry the shot gun while hunting a links cat in Africa.
