Which out of these two is the winner? Can the .416 Rem be modified to .416 Weatherby without much work? (Have dies/brass for the Weatherby...nothing for the Remington)

Kurtz actions are for the 250-3000, 22-250 etc.????, it won't work with any .416 that I know of, and if opened up it would be a castastrophy and the action alone is worth several times that of a completed 416 or any kind..I hope I missed something along this thread..???

All that aside, the standard 98 can be used for either the 416 Rem or 416 Ruger, the Ruger is IMO the best option..Ive done several and they sure work nice..but either way is fine, so just pick your caliber.

As to the 416 Rigby, and add my favorite the 404 Jefferys, nostalgia is the main ingredient,and there ain't a damn thing wrong with that..In fact I feel sorry for those that nostalgia isn't a part of their life, they are missing out on a lot of what makes hunting great.

I got/built my first 416 in '92. Truth be told, nostalgia was probably a factor, but the capacity to load the cartridge to recoil levels that Jack OConnor called 'grim' (400gn at 2600+fps) was the major factor. With today's bullets I prefer 350gn at 2800+fps, and Jack might still call it grim, but the full monty 416 takes oribi and buffalo nicely and recoil can be more than tolerated with a little training. I want my 40s to shoot a 400 gr. bullet at 2400 FPS, simple as that and most of them do..

I sold it last year as my African days have waned with age, but if I ever need another big bore, I will shoot the .416 Ruger with its compactness, light weight and whatever else intrigues me about that cartridge, its just a neat caliber, and everyone Ive built shot exceptionally well.

Ray that is dangerous . Not sure what the pressure levels would be. Not possible to get those velocities with slow powders like H4350, 4831, Re 19 etc.

Someone with Quickload program might chip in with predicted pressure - my guess would be over 70,000 PSI.

BLOODY IDIOTS - who ever they are! Spanish or Chinese makes no difference to me.
