Oryxhunter,

If you look at the pictures in the post you'll notice that the rear sights are not directly mounted on the barrel itself, but are on a metal "platform." That's the quarter rib.

Hope that helps,

JPK,
thank you for not answering my question, but taking the time to insult me!

For your info, I shoot a merkel, so I understand what it is like to own a nice firearm, and enjoying hunting with it. I just don't understand lugging tons of extra guns for the "in case" shit happens. BUT again, thanks for the insult, I don't make guns, put them together, I just buy them.

Now, I'm sure if you want to be a cocky expert, I could lead a discussion about genetics that would leave you scratching your head, thinking,

I'M NOT AS SMART AS I THOUGHT! middlefinger

We all have things we are knowledgable about, obviously, Manners are not your strong point!

My post wasn't an insult, or at least intended to be an insult; it was merely intended to be an explanation.

Your quote, "... I just buy them" pretty well sums it up, I think.

Maybe you are the end all be all in the field of genetics, but you don't know s--t about guns or traveling with them, the quarter rib on your Merkel notwithstanding. BTW, if your think a run of the mill Merkel is a fine firearm, you have a LOT to learn.

For answers to simple questions try google sometime, and spell check too. Maybe try a remedial course in grammar too, your run on sentences are something, even on this site, which "ain't no" exemplar of the fine results of public education.
