Beautiful work! Looks like you are getting it done right. What bottom metal is being used, and what scope mounts will you install?

500 Bob De'Vries made the bottommetal himself.................he now uses blackburn I beleive and I managed to get the last of his own personally made .404 Bottom metal.

He has made a set of custom talley bases which are more attractive than the standard talley bases. See the pic below.

I have done my best to do this right, I have used Oz's premier metal smith and stock person Bob De'Vries and Ross Waghorn and have put all the appropriate extras on it. The trigger group will be a stell blackburn unit.

Now that what I like seeing. Very pretty. I need to call Ted Blackburn now, the bottom metal on my my very similar project is my trouble and thats a good lead. I thought he wasn't doing 404 bottom metal for the 98. I am going to call today.

PC,
As I've said before your all class mate, that's turning into an heirloom of a rifle! Hopefully our elected officials will allow our grandkids to hold that style of rifle and say " Grandpa PC was a gun whore ... but boy he had some taste (as they line up a grassy in the spotlight from the back of a dusty ute Red Face)" When are you heading eastwards so we can drag it through some scrub after a Sambar? Big Grin Get in before the kids/grandkids do?? lol
Cheers mate and its looking awesome...

Outstanding work. You're rightly proud of building such a labor of love.
The finished product surely will be worth it.
Nice going!

Terrific...just terrific. Keep us posted on the build, I just love the work in progress photos. There's just something about seeing a rifle take shape that makes it more attractive to me in the end.

Thanks for sharing with us.
