When is the 375 Ruger coming out?
I have been interested in necking the ruger 375 into a 416 ruger .I was wondering when it would come out.The 204 Ruger was a great sucess and the 480 ruger a flop.I think if Ruger makes an afordable 375 in stainless it might be a hit.

According to their press release:
quote:
Precise specifications will be released just as soon as details of production ammunition and rifles are finalized. We anticipate this will occur early in 2007. Please watch for future announcements from Hornady and Ruger.

If they don't expect to finalize the specs until 'early 2007', don't look for the rifles and ammunition to appear much before summer.

I have it on good authority that SAAMI specs will be announced at the SHOT show in Jan. so reamers will be avaliable soon after. No "official" word on guns.
Hopefully it won't be still-born like the similiar 376? I can't imagine it will do anthing the 9.3x64 can't - except maybe become popular in the US.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

I am eagerly awaiting this release. As soon as the specs are released HS Precision will get an order for one PHR rifle in 375 Ruger Smiler This rifle will be my all-around hunting tool for everything from Oregon timber elk to Blue Ridge hogs here in the foothills of South Carolina. Phil I had just placed an order for a 9.3x64 Brenneke and after much debate cancelled and am waiting out the Ruger release. I like the cheaper dies, more available brass, and wider bullet selection of the 375 Ruger; assuming it succeeds. I see no reason it won't considering it specs. The Ruger case should provide a slight velocity edge as well, considering the increased case capacity. Though I do plan on keeping my loads below max. The 9.3x64 Brenneke seemed to me to be the best choice for what I wanted in a cartridge, but looking at the Ruger specs it should up the ante a bit. The standard length action, .532" case head, and lack of superfolous belt have me as eager as a child awaiting Christmas. dancing

I hope Ruger takes it a step farther & comes out with the .416 & .458 Ruger.

dgr416: I would think necking up the .375 Ruger would make a great .416, from what I have heard about the .375 Ruger. The reason that supports my opinion, is that I recently made up a .416 Newton based on the fat .35 Newton case necked to .416...
so there would be similarities in the .375 Ruger necked up as the .375 Ruger & .35 Newton both have minimum body taper, a fattish short case...very efficient .416s for sure. My .416 Newton is proving to be a real winner!

i doubt ruger will do a 458...

it would be the same capacity as the lott but onlt 10 thou body taper and 18 or 19 thou per shoulder so that nixes it as a factory round...

if you chamber to the lott length and stick the bullets out more you could do 500 gr @ 2400 imho
