Anyone used any of the .416 Rigby brass made by Hornady? The price is super cheap which makes me wonder about the quality. I have been using Norma which is pretty pricey but very good. reflex264

Hornady knows how to make brass. I have used the Hornady .416 Rigby brass in the .416 Rigby, and have necked it down to .395 and blown it out to .395 Tatanka shoulder. I have measured it and weighed it and find it comparable to Norma in anything I could determine. I think it is prettier too, and the neck annealing from the factory is better for my purposes. I prefer Hornady over Norma now. I also prefer the Hornady basic H&H cylindrical brass for use as 470 Capstick or .375 Weatherby. And of course the .458 Lott from Hornady is about the same as the basic, except for headstamp and slightly shorter length. It is faultless too. No problems with the .375 Ruger brass from Hornady either ... Regarding all Hornady brass known to me: Try it, you'll like it.

I only bought 20 cases but after firing them, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. I only used Norma in my 416 Rigby. It is nice except the primer hole is so tight that I thought I might break my priming tool seating primers. If I still had my Rigby I would jump at the chance to buy Hornaday brass. Jason Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. I agree! I bought 40 rounds to start. It's excellent brass. I managed to find some Hornady 458 Lott brass last week and bought 5 boxes. It's good brass in that it produces good groups.I don't know if it lasts longer than other brass like Norma.I would like to compare it to Norma.

I use Hornady brass for my 458 Lott and it holding up very good. I am on the second time around and the primer holes are not to big. After the next time I shoot them I expect them to be ok. Because they were pretty tight the first time around.

I purchased 40 rounds and have not shot any at this point. The price attracted me initially, this is my first Hornady Brass. I appreciate the replys here and will be shooting it in the future. Good shooting. phurley

I'm using it. Have some cases with as many as 3 loadings. Have yet to trim. Very little stretch. Primer pockets are holding well. Of course I'm sure it helps that the 416 Rigby is a relatively low pressure round. I'll buy more when the time comes. For now I think I've got about 120 pieces. That should do me a while. David

Thanks gents. I have used a ton of it in .450 Marlin without a hitch but the low price sort of scared me on the Rigby. Next batch I buy will be the Hornady. reflex264

I tried it and liked it very much. Cases are a bit lighter than Norma, but velocity & POI was indentical. No issues and a bargain at half the price. jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

I have used their 458 Lott brass with good results. As an aside, I have found Lapua brass to be the best for my 338 Lapua. The Norma brass is okay but the Lapua brass is more uniform IME and is my choice in this caliber. I haven't had a chance to try Hornady Rigby brass (I have a good stock of Norma) but I welcome another source if it is well executed.
